Strangely enough his beard from last season has him ranked #3 in worst MLS facial hair category and it only took him less than 2 seasons!!
that's crazy that there is a 7-way tie currently for 41st on 41 goals. and they'd all be tied (currently) with the La Liga co-leaders (just for this season) -- http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/scorers/_/league/esp.1/spanish-primera-division?cc=5901 Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid 41 Lionel Messi Barcelona 41
Yup. Twellman has played 7,000 fewer minutes than Jeff Cunningham and 10,000 fewer than Moreno. Also impressive about Twellman is only 3 of total are PKs, compared to 20 for Cunningham, 44 for Moreno and 26 for Donovan.
Selection of players with their goal per minutes stat. Stern John - 101 minutes(!) Twellman - 149 minutes Wondo - 152 minutes Ruiz - 153 minutes Henry - 159 minutes Angel - 165 minutes Razov - 179 minutes Donovan - 191 minutes
Let's not beat around the bush, folks...the most amazing thing that this list reveals is that Alan Gordon has 23 goals.
Added one. (If you were to take his 2007 season out of the equation where he was still working on his knee recovery it drops to 141 minutes).
...and based on that stat, Wondo > Henry And in just about 2 full seasons as a starter Wondo has gone from a handful of goals as an occasional sub to 31st all-time in MLS goals scored. So where's the "greatness that is Wondo" thread?
Henry will be in the top 50 before the season is over .... ... just imagine where he'd be if the team were properly set up for him last season.
That's over 20% I think - quite a bit. I may be wrong but I think Wondo has just 2 or 3 over about the same number of goals, FWIW.
20.83% to be exact. Though its 2 per year which isn't that many. And I don't buy into the "PK's shouldn't count as much" theory anyway. Many of those PK's Casey himself created by being fouled in the box. unless you're going to examine every PK to decide who should get the most "credit" you go with who put the goal on the scoreboard.
For those who are not aware, you can look up these stats yourself on the MLS site here. Or just go to the "Stats" menu, and select "All Time Stats". You can click on the column headers to sort by different options, so if you want to see the leaders in goals/90 minutes, you can see that. If you want to see how many PK goals, that is also shown. And for the discussion about Casey vs Wondo and PK goals, Casey has 10 and Wondo has 6, so there's not that much difference.
Or over 1 out of every 5 goals which is quite a few . I seem to remember one year where he had quite a few, maybe the same year where IIIRC he got one in each of 2 games against the Quakes, on questionable PK calls late in the game to tie up the games at 1-1. Guess I haven't gotten over that...
