    Well, it must have irked him that he will always be noted at, "Hendrix bass player," as he always saw himself as a guitar player.

    The way Jimi told the story was always funny: he (Noel) assumed that Chas Chandler was auditioning for the Animals. Jimi saw him and "liked his hair," and he took the gig. Seems like he was never really happy in the band.

    I have the dvd on the making of "Electric Ladyland," and even in his best moments, he sounds bitter; many of the compliments seem backhanded-he makes a slick remark about how he likes Dylan's version of "...Watchtower" better. Of course he didn't play on Jimi's version.

    Well, I hope he rests in peace.
