A business trip will be taking me to Dallas next Monday so I need to find a place to watch the USA vs. Ghana match. I'll be near Turtle Creek area. Any ideas? I saw this: http://www.fcdallas.com/worldcup/parties I think I'd rather go to a bar, maybe a big sports bar, than a movie theater. Also, American Outlaws Dallas chapter goes to the Staggering Irishman but it looks like that is way up north and the photos make it look like just an Irish pub. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dallas-American-Outlaws/124076090989445 Thanks in advance for any ideas!
there are a couple of spots near turtle creek that i can think of, although not sure they will be up to the level of a watching "party" per se. * bbc (site of 1st friday fcd watch party) - large pub, ton of bigscreens, many tap beers incl locals * christies - on mckinney, also lots of tvs and usually a decent scene i would expect a respectable turnout given their central location and proximity to office buildings for those unable to miss the entire afternoon. another option is omni hotel which has a vegas-sportsbook type of sports bar (aka walls covered with huge screens surrounded by smaller screens) on 1st floor, a bit further from turtle creek and more upscale (aka pricier) but great food and, while by no means a breast-araunt, servers are not difficult to look at
I've been to one. Great theater with a small bar and restaurant. I imagine with the FC Dallas girls performing there and all they'll use a theater. Thanks for the BBC and Christies recommendations. BBC looks like they're well prepared for the World Cup: https://www.facebook.com/BBCdallas
OK, just wanted to make sure that you were up to speed on it, that it's not the same as your local movie theater.
Well, on Turtle Creek, you're pretty close to the bars on McKinney Ave. Certainly somewhere down there will be showing it with a good crowd. Trinity Hall at Mockingbird Station might not be that far away, either.
Know this - it doesn't matter where you go, any of those promoted places are going to be packed to the gills for the big games - especially, USA, England, etc. If you want something a little off the list above that might actually be crazy enough to work - find a Buffalo Wild Wings - they have usually been soccer-responsive (not necessarily pro active, but they get that it is a sport that draws crowds from time to time, and when it does, they serve them stuff) without being so high on soccer-fans radar screen that they will be over-filled for that game (USA-Ghana).
Think I might try to get to BBC or Alamo for the USA-Ghana game. Taking the day off work, might as well.
