Help me to HATE!!!

It's even harder, since Dema is still my favorite MLS Player...Nowak does help too, but oh do I hate Freddy, no problem with that.

I do want to comment on the MLS Player Allocations, who did we get? I just have this feeling that the FIRE get the short end of the stick every single year in this deal. LA got Herzog and Kirovski. DC got Adu and Moreno, and they already got Stewart last year. What the hell is going on here!?

I like DC in the sense I never have disliked them at all. I guess you could sort of say they are my second favorite US club since they are the only team I have any margin of good feelings for, despite the fact the distance between that and that of the Fire is so great I don't think the local galaxy could contain it.

I hope Peter and Dema do well. So well, that one day, not far off we might steal them and bring them home.

 

I'd have to agree with Hala on this one, I never really hated them at all.
I hated Icky Scary but now he's gone sooo...if Dema doesn't break any Fire legs, DC is ok with me. It will be great to eliminate them at the end of the season.

You ever notice that their fans also seem a bit cooler on bigsoccer in general?

I've always liked DC. I've enjoyed watching them play every year. Even though they've sucked for the last 4 years or so, they always have young Americans playing.

 

We were able to strong-arm the league into including Armas in the Jorge Campos trade, we got L.A. to "trade" DMB to us, and there was the Razov-for-Razov allocation. I don't think we're doing all that bad, historically, as those are three serious impact players. There are counter-examples, sure, but at the same time, are you really going to envy the MetroStars for finagling Lothar Mattheus?

It's okay man, there have always been strong DC-Fire ties, between Bradley bringing Jessie along to us foisting Hristo onto them, they have begun as the Evil Empire that we dethroned and now I see as a kind and loving little brother that is severely mentally unwell. I have a lot of good friends down in DC who I like to hang out with. That means I can't hate their team as much as I'd like to, but it also means that they understand completely when I'm thrilled beyond compare when we knock them the hell out of playoffs.

T o be honest, as long as we all still hate Dallas, LA and the Metrostars, what does it matter?

 

I didn't like etcheverry and I didn't like them in 98 when we beat them in the MLS cup. I don't mind Peter doing well as long as it is not when he plays the fire.

 

My dislike peaked in 1999, especially at that game against them in May, with that Scottish ref giving out cards left and right and awarding fraudulent penalties. But since then, they've gone all cute and lovable.

I've enjoyed their big push for the final playoff spot over the last couple years (the closest thing we've got to a relegation dogfight) and was always pulling for them to scrape in. I almost felt bad it had to be us to unceremoniously dump them out of the playoffs last year after all their hard work.

I really like Ray 'F___ing' Hudson and I miss him already. And St Peter's presence keeps that lovable manager thing going.

But, here's a trick that might help you Iceblink: squint (if they're on the telly) or get plenty of beer in you (if you're at a match) and try to imagine it’s MetroStars playing instead. Hope that helps...

that 99 game (infamous also since i never actually made it to said game) caused a far grater level of hate for Stuard Dougal whose name will live in the annals of MLS history more than any possible seed of hate for DC.

I mean, come on, DC is the team that we basically agreed to draw in the cosolation game of the 99 Champions' Cup so we'd share third place.

I don't like them because they were the favored sons of the league before the Metros took over that status. Look at their defensive starters from 97-99. That was most of the World cup deomestic defensive players in 2002. Pope, Llamosa, Agoos (ok, well..), Sanneh. What bastards. Then they got Olson before his injuries when he was the next big thing. Bastards.

Well, you, but I guess my point is there really isn't a reason to hate DC especially now with Peter in charge. That hate is better directed at the likes of Dallas, LA and the Metro.
