I am a sophmore trying out for varisty high school team in two weeks. I was wondering what I could do to be at my best the time tryouts come along. The older guys are a lot taller and bigger than me also.

The number one important thing in anyone's game is confidence. Don't let yourself be intimidated.

If you've got the skills, it's all wasted if you're not confidence nearly to the point of being cocky, but only on the field. ;)

Make sure you're in shape. Granted you're a young kid so running around like crazy shouldn't be that difficult but if you can run around like crazy longer than anyone else it will look good.

Also, don't try to do anything beyond your means. That's what practices are for.

I am only a freshman but I made my high school team, which are 4a state champs the last three years, and I start as right midfield. I am the only freshman to start. I learned that running helps alot. I hustle the whole time I am in. I love to attack but I know that if I do I got to get back to defence so that means alot of running. Good Luck!

Do not be afraid to do the "dirty work".

    Hustle.

    Have a positive attitude.

And if you are trying out for my team, a large pepperoni and sausage pizza with a six pack of beer would help a lot.

    yeah

always check the sidelines for a hot chick to run up to after you score

if you don't know where the hot chick is... you're screwed

yeah goal celebrations are the most important thing. just start juking and bust out the sideways moonwalk.

but don't worry about your talent, denilson said that you are just born with it.

    Fastest warm-up

Nice try at humor, but I did that in Cross country and I didn't have neough steam left for workouts or long runs. Same your steam for practice where the work will pay off. Truthfully, the coach won''t care if you run the fastest warm-up lap if you can't get the job done.

Throw yourself into some hard tackles (not dirty). Size isn't really a factor in soccer, don't turn it into one by the way you play.

That means that your center of gravity is closer to the ground, where the ball is. Always remember, it's all about the ball. Believe in yourself and work hard. You will succeed.
