Help Creat Loud Vocal Support for the USMNT

"This group is for hard-core fans of the US Men's National team."

Are you like many others, disgusted with the inability to create sustained support at national team matches? Are you bothered by the inability to get everyone to work together? Several groups trying to march to the tune of a different drummer (literally different drummers).

If so and if you would like to help make the vocal support at future matches more organized and supportive, please sign up with this yahoo group. We already have a decent number of people in there (~60), that represent most every mls market and a few other US cities.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/usasupporters/join

We make no attempt at giving ourselves a name. Our mission is simple... provide the absolute best, loudest support we can for our boys during the game.

This does entail a few things:
smoke bombs, flags, banners, confetti, streamers, standing, the wearing of red, and k.i.s.s (keep it simple, stupid)

Now personally, I don't see this in any way as an attempted split with Sam's Army... merely a means to provide the organization that has clearly been missing IN GAME. Things just happened to work out so that we are jumping in with La Norte for the upcoming match and Sam's Army is jumping in with Barra Brava/Screaming Eagles. I don't really expect this to happen at other places, as most places don't have multiple areas for their groups like RFK does.

I believe Sam's Army has been incredible in establishing itself as an area that fans seek out for matches. But that's it. People are essentially encouraged to turn the section(s) into an area where no one works together, there are countless drummers that bang their drums with no attempt to work together. Turning it into a section banging pots and pans together with numerous chants going on.

Please help rectify this, but if your idea is "You Will Never Walk Alone", you might want to sit this one out.

*mods, i realize that this is more of a fan forum thread, but i would like it left here so that more people will see it... thank you

Come on people, this is the best thing in the world to jump on board with. We are striving to provide the best possible support for our national team in game.

Sign up, look around, throw some ideas out there or support others. Help set things up, offer a hand when the team comes to your town. They don't play at one site, the play at various stadia through-out this country.

We are all fans and every place in this country needs to provide better, unified support.

I don't want to seem negative, since visible and vocal support is always a good thing, but in the current climate I'm not sure smoke bombs are a prudent way of demonstrating support.

If it's comin from a group of US supporters, people aren't gonna panic and flee for their lives. It's been done before and it doesn't seem to bother anyone. Everyone pretty much knows it's just a smoke bomb lit by those crazy soccer guys.

pretty much every fire game i go to has smoke... maybe not smoke bombs, but we have smoke billowing from our section

just don't throw it onto the field... kick it around on the ground to keep the pigs from getting it fast

oh yeah, should have said this before

once the smoke bomb is set off and everyone stays where they are... it's going to be pretty clear that it's not something bad

Besides, most smoke bombs only last for 30 seconds to a minute. By the time anyone would panic, the smoke is gone.

I find smoke bombs most enjoyable when standing within 2 seats of the smoke bomb while under the big as$ flag.

Not the one's we had at the fire games last year. They were huge and lasted for atleast two or three minutes.

i'm still not sure where they got those... the smoke bombs everyone here is probably thinking of is those little balls

the kind of smoke bombs that occassionally get used at fire games (in addition to our smoke machine) are sticks.... smoke comes out of one end of the stick

What about those red flares that you see at Italian games and French games. And when there's a bad call you can throw the flare at the ref (saw that PSG-Metz last year).

Or if the referee is really bad, hopefully our coach will wait for him in the parking lot and car-jack his car and hold him hostage for two hours. (PSG coach Luis Fernandez did that last year after Cup game - two game suspension)

When we start doing that, then we'll have really arrived. Have fun at the game.

that's been done by fire fans at columbus for fire-crew matches (not since i have been going there though) and this year one of our guys did that in milwaukee for our open cup match vs the rampage

oh yeah, we should be doing this at fire home matches next year

Those Flares are used at Toronto Lynx games (A-League)

I am part of this group and we are really getting stuff done.

    Websites, T-shirts, scarves, etc.

So come on and like jim said we arent trying to split up sams army but maybe we can sit with sams army all in the same couple rows and be the loudest part and maybe the other fans will feed off of it.

Not all of sam's army is like that. Some happen to be very loud. Yank Army is also more vocal. We have the people, we just need to get organized.

There are a plethora (Jefe what ees a plethora?) of fans that are vocal that aren't Sam's or LaNorte or YA.

They're just loud US fans. Let's hope with each passing US game, there continues to be more fans that fit this profile.
