There is a chance that April Heinrichs will be on "Inside Soccer" today so this could be an opportunity for Courage fans to ask why there weren't more Courage players named to the USWNT training roster. If Heinrichs is on the show it could be anytime between 4:05 and 6 PM PT (7:05 - 9 PM ET). I'll do my best to post something here as soon as I find out for sure if and when she will be on today's show. Lori Lindsey and Kim Pickup of the San Diego Spirit are scheduled to be on today's show at 5:10 PM PT. The phone number for "Inside Soccer" is 858-560-1130.
USWNT Japan Roster Announcement It was just mentioned on "Inside Soccer" that Heinrichs will announce the roster for tomorrow's match at 6 PM Pacific Time today (9 PM ET). Nothing was said about her being on today's program, but as soon as I hear anything I will post it here.
Heinrichs Will Be On Brian Quinn just said that USWNT Coach April Heinrichs will be on between 4:30 and 5:00 PM. Call in if you have any questions for Coach Heinrichs.
nordby1 I just checked KSDO's web site to listen to Inside Soccer live; however, I found out/read that KSDO can no longer provide 'net streaming... due to costs. Is there any way that you will be able to provide a full or partial transcript of any USWNT or WUSA transcripts? I know Pickup and Lindsey are on at 5:10 PST..and it bums me out to not be able to listen. Thanks for any info. It's much appreciated- very much. Gratefully and with sorrow (at no streaming), PoetSong
Re: USWNT Japan Roster Announcement Thanks for that tidbit of info. What is the URL so that we can listen to "Inside Soccer" online?
Re: nordby1 If you call 858-560-1130 you can listen to the show while you are waiting on hold. You can also leave your number with the KSDO Engineer and they will you back.
Is that a toll free no for those of us in Boston? And with no Qs, I'm leery to call in and listen... Thank you for the info.
Heinrichs is talking about Aly Wagner right now. She also said that it would be difficult for "Lucks" and Melissa Moore to make the World Cup squad, but said that they were both on the radar screen.
what did she say about wags? sry, im like the biggest aly fan, and i once again missed the inside soccer thing.
Transcripts of "Inside Soccer" Yesterday at the USWNT match I gave my tape of Saturday's "Inside Soccer" show to Say_What. I'll let you know if she has a chance to post the transcript at her website.
Transcript Here is the transcript of the April Heinrichs interview: http://www.spiritedsoccer.com/news/transcripts/radio/heinrichs_is111.html EDIT: I will transcribe Pickup & Lindsey, hopefully tomorrow night.
Re: Transcript Thanks so much for posting this transcript Say_What. That's great that you are going to transcribe the conversation with Kim and Lori as well. You do an excellent job with your website. BTW - how did the post match interviews go at Torero on Sunday?
Re: Transcript They were fairly interesting and full of optimism. April is well spoken and spent a good deal of time talking about how the rest of the world has caught up to the U.S. Mac's interview was over pretty quickly. She was pretty optimistic about the game. Brandi's interview was my favorite, she handled questions cheerfully and made fewer excuses for the U.S.'s poor outing. I think anyway, I'll have to go back and listen to my audio again. See if I can find any good quotes for you. I have to say, it's interesting to see the reporters from different media formats get their questions answered at the same time.
Post Match Interviews After the match I saw you down there in the press pit elbowing for position. BTW - I have a great Brandi quote for you from today's USWNT practice at ARCO, but I'll have to PM it to you because the language was not appropriate for these boards.
Re: nordby1 I just received my tape of the Pickup & Lindsey interview in the mail so if there is still any interest in a partial transcript, let me know. I also found out that Courage Communications Director Jim Houghton was on "Inside Soccer" the Saturday before the Super Bowl, but I missed that show because I was down at the NFL Experience waiting in line for my one and only chance to make an NFL regulation field goal.
Pickup & Lindsey Transcript Wait! I did do a transcript of Pickup & Lindsey, it's just on my other computer waiting to be uploaded in a viewable format. I am really sorry for the delay in getting it posted, and for mailing the tape back, I have been far too busy lately. I promise I will have the transcript up by 10pm tonight. Sorry again!
Re: Pickup & Lindsey Transcript Thanks for mailing me the tape and thanks also for doing the transcript. Did you by chance hear Courage Communications Director Jim Houghton when he was interviewed on "Inside Soccer?" I really wish I had remembered to bring a radio with me to the NFL Experience, especially since I was mostly waiting in lines while the show was on the air.
Pickup & Lindsey Transcript Okay, here it is: http://spiritedsoccer.com/news/transcripts/radio/picklin_is111.html
Re: Pickup & Lindsey Transcript Well, I sort of heard Houghton. He came on as the signal was fading out. He wasn't on very long, and the part I remember most was him discussing the live coverage of the WUSA draft. I believe they talked about the new coach, I think Jim evaded the question somewhat, he didn't say who the candidates were but that they were all good quality. He also said they were very pleased to have Marcia back with the Courage. That's all from memory, so it's not very accurate. Did you at least make your field goal?
Re: Pickup & Lindsey Transcript I know several people who will be especially interested in seeing what Lori Lindsey had to say so thanks for doing this transcript. I know how much time it takes me to do one of these. Hopefully you can type a lot faster than I can.
Jim Houghton Interview/NFLX I finally did hear a tape of that interview earlier this week. Jim was a bit evasion wrt the coaching situation, but I recall him saying something about them expecting to announce their new coach within a week, but that was almost two weeks ago. Brian Halliday and Jim also had some very nice comments about Hege Riise. That is actually a funny story in itself, but the short is YES!! I waited in line for about 30 minutes mostly with members of the Raider Nation and when two young hard core Raider fans ahead of me missed badly I started to feel the pressure. I took a deep breath, did my best to block out the hundreds of people watching me, remembered to keep my head down and somehow managed to split the uprights from about 35 yards out! Believe it or not, but that was the first time in my life I ever tried to kick a field goal so I think I will quit while I am ahead.
