Heath Pearce, Pelada, Ticket Discounts, and Other Minutia

Discussion in 'Dallas Chapter' started by TheDallasPerspective, May 15, 2010.

  1. The World Cup is less than a month away, the preliminary squad is selected, the stadiums built, gear ordered and received, the parties being planned ... for me personally, perspective is becoming lost in the upcoming SICK RIDE that my national team is about to take me on! As Outlaws and friends of Outlaws, don't miss a minute of The Sick Ride, DFW style!

HEATH PEARCE: FC Dallas defender Heath Pearce has been selected by USMNT manager Bob Bradley to the preliminary 30-man roster for our beloved Yanks. Not only is Heath a helluva nice guy, he's a tenacious, dedicated defender that stands to keep the likes of Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard out of the goal on June 12. Heath will play one more match for FC Dallas, on Saturday at 3:00 PM, and then he heads to camp for Monday training. To hear Heath's thoughts on his preliminary selection, read his interview with FC Dallas.

SCREENING OF PELADA: Away from professional stadiums, bright lights, and manicured fields, there’s another side of soccer. Tucked away on alleys, side streets, and concrete courts, people play in improvised games. Every country has a different word for it. In the United States, we call it “pick-up soccer.” In Trinidad, it's "taking a sweat." In England, it's "having a kick-about." In Brazil, the word is “pelada,” which literally means "naked"—the game stripped down to its core. It’s the version of the game played by anyone, anywhere.Away from professional stadiums, bright lights, and manicured fields, there’s another side of soccer. American Outlaws National invites all soccer fans to the Plano screening of Pelada, a soccer documentary following college-but-not-pro stars Luke and Gwendolyn from Bolivia to Kenya telling the story of The People Who Play Soccer. See the trailer here.

Q&A with director Ryan White immediately following the film!
