    1. I heard on FSW that Hearts will be making a summer trip to British Columbia to play not only a couple of local teams but also Millwall of English Division One. Anyone know any details of this? Is this fact?

    2. Many players going this summer due to financial problems with the club. Who is going free? Who might be sold?

I hear that Hearts will still be playing at Tynecastle next year (I don't know whether this is because the SRU didn't want them using Murrayfield or what the craic is really), and as a result, Levein will have no money to spend, and, indeed, is being forced to trim the squad. Three players who may be sacrificed are Scott Severin, Andy Kirk and Steven Boyack. No great loss then...

Don't ken what their plans are for pre-season, I'm afraid.

    Hearts: Severin Eyes England

There have been rumors that Charlton Athletic is interested in his services.

Is he good enough to go to the EPL? Would it be better to go Division One and see how he does? What are his strengths, etc.? Anyone?

His strengths are that he can play well in defence and midfield. Not a great player by premiership standards, but a very handy player to have in your squad. He's still young and has the potential to hold his own in the premiership. He was brilliant against rangers last week.

    Thanks for the information.

Severin sounds sort of like Matt Holland -- tough, hard-working, good tackler who can score the occasional goal.

Has he been the "engine" of Hearts this year? Or who was that?

I like the fact that Hearts is similar to Charlton Athletic in that both are hard working TEAMS. Everyone contributes to the result and plays with their hearts -- if you will pardon the pun.

I certainly hope he gets picked up by Charlton.

    1. Yes. Hearts are pencilled in to play three matches during their stay, two against F.A. Cup finalists Millwall, with a local All-Star Select or Canada "B" also providing opposition...

Thanks for the info and link.

Wow. I wish I could make a trip to BC then and see Hearts play Millwall. What a great time will be had by those in attendance.

Merged with Hearts rumors. Let's keep the number of threads started reasonable, eh fellahs? Besides its harder to find what you are looking for if each little tidbit has its own thread.

Hearts are staying at Tynecastle for one more year as a kind of 'appeasement' to the fans. This is by virtue of new chairman George Foulkes arrival rocking the boat for the pieman, Chief Executive Chris Robinson. It still seems inevitable that Murrayfield shall be our adopted home, and the pieman has turned round and blamed the fans for forcing a Tynecastle stay, thus forcing the sale of more players + further cutting of the wage bill.

    Spanish "Gazza" becomes a Jambo

It's probably been the worst kept secret in Scottish football this summer, but Spanish striker Ramon Pereira yesterday finally confirmed he'll be a Hearts player next season.

And the 25-year-old was quick to state that the lure of European football was an important factor in his decision to move to Hearts.

"It was not about money, it was the fact Hearts are in the Uefa Cup and that they are always challenging at the top of the Premier League" said his agent, Jorge Lera.

Pereira spent a brief but successful period at First Division Raith Rovers last season, scoring 5 times in just 11 appearances.

And Raith Rovers chairman Turnbull Hutton likened Pereira to Paul Gascoigne.

"Ramon is an exciting player and I think he will be a favourite there" he said.

"He is a bit like Paul Gascoigne in the way he holds the ball up and does the unexpected."

Pereira will sign a one-year deal on 28 June.

A few things in the press recently:

Under-fire chief executive Chris Robinson is reportedly on the verge of selling his stake in the club after finding an, as yet, un-named buyer for his shares.

Robinson has been much criticised by the Hearts support after his attempt to sell Tynecastle to ease the club's debts.

In an unrelated story, two Thai businessmen have visited Tynecastle with the view to setting up links with clubs in Asia.

Hearts fly out tomorrow for their pre-season tour of Canada. Hearts play Canada "B" on Sunday.

since we are talking about rumours

I've heard to expect Hearts to announce they are going into Administration about 10 minutes after kickoff of their first match of the season . This timing is to avoid the 10 point deduction .
