Hearts will sell thier gorund and play at Muarryfield, home of the SRU starting in 2004/2005.

What do you think of this? It seems to me kind of like an MLS deal....teams that average 12,000 playing in 63,000 seat stadiums. The great thing about this though is Hearts clearing off thier debts.

If it goes a little way to ensuring that they can avoid being yet another Scottish side in administration then good on them.

It's not ideal, but I'd much rather have a Hearts team in the SPL playing at Murrayfield than no Hearts team at all.
If it was Rangers, however, I'd be dead set against any chance of them alleviating their financial problems ;)

    A dream...

Wouldnt it be awesome if the satidum had an attendence of 65,000 + for Hibs/Hearts?

Hey, look, a guy can dream.

Just goes to show what a joke the SPL is . Falkirk aren't allowed to share a ground with Airdie because they don't get 1st priority on match days . Hearts are allowed to move to Murrayfield even though they don't get 1st priority because of the SRU .

I think (not defending the SPL bigwigs too much here ;) ) their reasoning behind rejecting Falkirk was that the stadium would have been in constant use throughout the league season - ie one team would be playing a full season's worth of league matches there already...
Murrayfield however isn't utilised anywhere near as much as another football stadium would be, so Hearts would be pretty much the sole tenants there.

Soccer is like the 5th most popular sport in the US so that explains the low attendence. Isn't soccer like the #1 sport in Scotland plus Edinburgh is a large city and Hearts have a lot of supporters so I see no reason why they can't average over 20,000 in their new stadium.

    Rugby

True, soccer may be the most popular sport in Scotland. In Edienborough on the other hand, Rugby is. Hense, Muarryfield, home of the SRU.

I've been to that city. Muarryfiled isnt too easy to get to, kinda out there.

Murrayfield is no more than a twenty minute walk from Tynecastle.

Even speaking as a Hibee it'll be a sad day if the Jambos move from Tynie.

    Re: Rugby

Ok but I'm pretty damn sure that the pro rugby team in Edinburg that plays in the Celtic League and Heiniken Cup doesn't draw too well. Not as well as Hearts and Hibs for sure.

Got to say rugby isn't the most popular sport in Edinburgh. It is more popular there than it is most places in Scotland but if you add up all the rugby attendances from the Edinburgh area you wouldn't get close to Hibs or Hearts.

I think it would be a terrible shame if they had to move. Chris Robinson says it's their only option but who's fault is that! The guy's a prick still out to make some money. He's miss-managed Hearts for years and is still doing it now.

Just quoting something I posted a few days back, strange it attracted no replies, but in any event...Robinson seems to be a scam artist.

    Hey,

This move is not neccisarily set in stone. Another group is attempting to buy out SMG's stake in Heart's and in essence save their occupancy of Tynecastle. It seems in any case the ground will be sold, but an opposing faction of Leslie Deans, along with several prominent busines men favour staying at Tynecastle and are working to sell the ground and make sure it is leased back to Hearts. If Chris Robinson is forced out, and the bid for SMG shares is successful, the move to Murrayfield will most likely evaporate. This sort of mismanagement almost makes me appreciate MLS's single entity structure, and while what is happening in Britain is a result of over spending in football, MLS is doing things the right way and will allow all clubs to be on solid finanacial footing before changing structure. I am fully convinced this structure that I have argued against in the past, is benefiting MLS now, and whether it takes 10, 20, or 30 years for it to change, at least we have alot of quality football in store, and teams to support. Cheers to MLS.

Robinson is also one of the key movers and shakers behind the financial and entertainment masterpiece that is the SPL, god it makes you glad to be alive to have a man like him having such an important place in the future and well being of our national game, now if only we could get craigie broon back in charge of the youth set ups ;)
