So with Rapids now an HD icon, it could change viewing habits. HDTV with a DVD or HDTV signal is really awesome. And the 16:9 widescreen is superior for any field sport. So here are some of the options, others may know of other choices...... 1) From Greenie on another thread.... >>According to www.hd.net, there are three bars in Colorado that are capable of showing their high-def programming: Brooklyn's (Pepsi Center) Legends (Denver) Legends (Aurora)>> This would be a nice option, but not all Rapids games will be HDTV, just one MLS game a week. The option to find a place to feed a regular road TV Rapids game, then pre, post,or during have the HDTV game might be fun.....This shouldn't be too hard as we usually have two or three sets with the game at most places. 2) We could ask Aztec Sol to buy an HDTV for us! 3) The other option is Direct TV (a dish), if you've got one and have a package that includes the HDTV channels like HDnet. 4) For the ATT Broadband..now called Comcast, there are no HD feeds, although you can see the games on HD channel in regular TV format, but they have told me that they expect to launce HDTV capabiliy in the fall 2003....didn't say if that's pre-NFL (a good marketing time) or pre-Christmas. 5) So lastly, they are some of us with HDTV's at home-unfortunately, I am like #4, with cable. I looked over the HDnet schedule for this weekend. The only live sports event is an NHL game Nashville/Phoenix (could they pick a worse NHL game?).....but they have re-plays of Lacross!!! Gee Whiz! Hard to get too excited until they fill out their schedule a bit. RLH
HDNet and the MLS I have DirecTV at home and have a high def receiver and TV. The athletic events I have watched so far are unbelievable. It is visually better than being there. Not as exciting, but certainly fantastic. With a home theatre with Dolby 5.1, the NHL sounds like I am sitting in the middle of the rink. The only negative is that all of the Rapids matches appear to be home matches, and I expect to attend all of those. I wish at least one of our away matches was on HDNet. Anyway, it is definitely awesome. Go Raps!!!!!
How about the new Champs at Santa Fe and Mineral? They have a dozen or so flat screen HDTV sets hanging on their walls. I'm sure they subscribe to HDnet. The bar tender was telling us they have 100k of HDTV investments in that place. It is awesome.
