crew broadcast of their preseason match tonight mentioned that 20-30 mls matches would be shown on hdtv
does this mean there won't be any games on fox sports world? or does this mean that some of that games that regularly appear on DirectTv's Shootout pages will SIMULTANEOUSLY be appearing on HDTV? as long as it doesnt effect my digital cable shootout package, i won't really care, though i'm also hoping FSW gets into the act in showing games, and i hope this doesn't cancel that out.
i would imagine that this will be seperate from fsw... hell, i'd imagine that you could have an espn2 match simulcasted on hdtv... although with different cameras and such so i'd still expect fsw to be reality however, i have no details on any of this... i'd suggest the previous thread that was locked for going off track despite it wandering, there was some good stuff in there... you just got to put up with everything else in there
I keep up on HDTV, so here's what I know. Mark Cuban (Mavs owner and runs HDTV channel HDNet) said in an interview that HDNet would have MLS games on it this season. I emailed him about it and he said to "stay tuned". HDNet is going to start a purely sports network (HDNet Sports) and from what Mark Cuban said, I assume they will show games on that channel. And ESPN is launching their HDTV Channel this spring, so we could get some Hi Def games that way as well. I'm really excited about it because I just got my HDTV and to watch MLS on it will be the ultimate dream!
Is HDTV available on digital cable, or just over dish network or DirectTv. I know about the special receiver, etc. I'm just curious.
Depends on your location. Call your local cable company. From discussions I've had, AT&T Cable in the western chicago suburbs will be rolling out HDTV next year, and will probably be having the various HDNet stations as part of their package.
I have a 48" wide screen HDTV and DISH Network, only problem is that my dish box (a PVR501, same as a Tivo) isnt an HDTV transmiter so I would need to get a box that transmits HDTV, anyone know what box that would be and how much?
I think you are asking about an HD receiver not a transmitter. If you have DISH, this would be one of your options http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/technology/receivers/6000/index.shtml Later this year, DISH will be coming out with a combined HD receiver with dual hard drive PVR function built in (think the 501 on steroids, that can handle HD OTA as well as from the birds). I've got the 6000 with the 8VSB over-the-air module. It's a competent receiver, but it lacks all the bells and whistles of DISH's newer non-PVR receivers, like DISH Home and the live picture while browsing the guide. It's also a bit more finicky with respect to the PSIP data that over-the-air broadcasters send. If I remember correctly, DISH is also planning on coming out with a non-PVR HD receiver later this year to replace the 6000, but if you don't want to wait, the 6000 is a decent choice. Be sure to get the 6000 with both the 8VSB module -- which lets you get digital TV off the antenna from your local stations -- and the new 8PSK module -- which is required for DISH's newer HD offerings, like Discovery HD, the occasional games that NBA TV shows in HD, and any HD channels that DISH will be adding soon. The 8PSK is probably more of a "must buy" since DISH has said that any new HD channels will require it and there are very strong rumors from reliable sources that DISH will be adding ESPN HD and HDnet in the next couple months. Fortunately, DISH has been including that module in all new 6000 receivers lately and calling those receivers the 6000u. Still, it's something to ask your retailer about.
