Didn't know if anyone else saw this as they were watching Friday and Satruday college football, but there's a Ford truck commercial with Howie Long where he's talking and the trucks are tearing off up and down a football field. Well, the stadium they're in is obviously the HDC. I saw the commercial on ABC. Don't know if it's on other channels or not but I'd assume so.

I wonder AEG considered commerical filmming when the built the HDC ;)

I wondered the same thing, it looked like the HDC, hate the pointyball lines though.

I noticed that too. Stuff like allowing pickup trucks to tear up and down your field is why the HDC pitch is usually pure ******** with sand kicking up all over the place.

I was just about to post this thread. I'm not for sure but I think the Chargers might use the HDC in their off-season for training but that wouldnt explain why there would already by football lines on it now. Do you think they put all that stuff down just for the commercial. I"m starting to see Howie Long as the symbol of Anti-Soccer.

But to HDC is all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This maybe off the subject but yesteday I saw an Allstate commercial with the actor/guy in the empty Rose Bowl stadium mentioning the Rose Bowl on New Years Day...blah blah blah! But then cuts out to the crowd that looked like the 1999 Women's World Cup Final crowd and NOT THE TYPICAL COLLEGE FOOTBALL CROWD. Perhaps Allstate was targeting the wrong "football" audience. ;)

I have no doubt that they put football lines down just for the commercial. That's what they do. Chances are they filmed it after the MLS season ended and it wasn't a big deal to tear up the turf. For national commercials like these they don't have a problem dropping some money to do thing like lay down some football lines.

I saw the commecial. I recall seeing no pointy ball lines when the trucks were driving at ground level. At the very end of the comercial there is a very high up camrea angle that allows you to see the whole field with the trucks on it. It's then that I recall seeing the pointy ball lines and field goal posts. Is it possible that there are no lines acutally on the field and they were able to add the lines into the last shot with some sort of camera/computer tecnology? I may be wrong but I don't recall the lines until the last shot.

This is easy. HDC is near Los Angeles home of the movie,TV industry and probably the commercial industry also. So in order to film the commerical, it would be costly to move everything 200 miles away to a real NFL stadium instead of just 20 miles away to one that look like one.

The HDC has been used for regional high school football championships and will probably continue to do so.

HS football does get played at HDC, as Rok mentioned. The San Diego Chargers, however, trained on the practice fields to the east of the stadium - not in the stadium itself. (The practice fields are the ones where the MLS scouting combine took place last January.)

Didn't they host the X-Games there, too? They got a motorcross track onto it somehow. Gotta make money.
