    See above.

The HCIA told me earlier this afternoon that the bond float would be on the agenda at today's Board of Freeholders meeting, and the clerk at the Board told me that everything on the agenda passed. The Board is closed for the night.

In an effort to confirm, I've been in touch with Metro PR (who seemed unaware of the vote today) and Ives Galarcep of The Record, who also was unaware of the vote.

Is it possible that I've been fed some malarkey and passed it on to you? Until someone confirms, the answer would be yes, and I'd be really, really sorry to y'all. I'll be calling the board back first thing in the morning to try & get a confirmation.

If all this is true, who's going to Harrison tonight with some shovels for groundbreaking?

"Ok guys, its movie nite. A "Bond" flix or "Hope Floats" with Sandra Bullock? What say ye?"

    "Bond!"
    "Float!"

"Ok I approve we watch both. Someone dim the lights...."

If the vote happened, this will have to go down in the annals of Metro history as a fitting end to the process.

I can see me telling my grandkids someday: "So we waited nine years for the front office to get the county to approve the financing, and when they did, Mr. Fish was the only one who was aware the vote had been taken."

I have a gut feeling election day events might make your list look like child's play....I really hope i'm wrong....

Anyway, just noticed this thread and nothing found so far in google.... Could it be it is not completely accurate (crossing fingers....)

No news articles, nothing on the official site. Not saying it didn't happen; just would like to see something official in print or a press release that says it did. The PR guy at MFO isn't in yet this morning; let's see if they grace us with their presence at some point today to clarify or confirm.

Re: Stadium Bond Float APPROVED- Metro stadium thread

OK, here's the situation. My parents went away... (sorry).

Spoke with the Board of Freeholders. As per the clerk, what passed was "$10 million in financing to be undertaken by the HCIA in connection with the financing and provision of public facilities in Harrison."

There was no specific mention of the stadium/development on her agenda.
Are these funds connected to the project? I don't know.

The Board next meets on November 9th/10th, and there's no agenda for that meeting as of yet.

I also have a call into the HCIA re: last night's vote, and hopefully will get a call back soon.

Thanks for everyone's patience. That's a little joke.

    Your humble servant,
    Mr. Fish

Re: Stadium Bond Float APPROVED- Metro stadium thread

(edit: Fish & I overlapped on this. When I talked to the Freeholder office, the woman said to me, "didn't you just call here?" I'm assuming Fish was the other caller.)

I have yesterday's Freeholders meeting agenda. There's only one Harrison-related issue on the agenda:

    2. Resolution of the County of Hudson, New Jersey pursuant to NJSA 40:37A-56 consenting to a financing to be undertaken by the Hudson County Improvement Authority in connection with the Financing and the Provision of Public Facilities for the Town of Harrison - $10,000,000.

I highlight the amount because this # should be much higher if it were for the whole deal. This may be infrastructure related to the development but unless there's something else here I'm missing I don't think it's the entire development.

Re: Stadium Bond Float APPROVED- Metro stadium thread

Maybe, maybe not. This could be the first round of a multi-stage financing with the balance coming at the next meeting, the freeholders may be limited to doling out the money in $10MM chunks (issue #1 at the meeting was another $10 million bond issue, but for Hoboken), it could be for much-needed infrastructure related to the project like a 280 off-ramp or sewers roads etc, or it could be totally unrelated to the project. We need MFO to clarify.

Yeah, I know, whatever. I expect to hear back from Metro PR regarding my voice mail at about the same time that I hear back from Ronald McDonald regarding my undercooked hamburger. And I've been as much of a downer on this whole financing situation as anybody throughout the ordeal. (Reminder for something like the 100th time: handsome reward paid for a copy of the Deloitte feasibility study results! Confidentiality guaranteed! Name your price!) But somebody will eventually figure out what the $10 million will be spent on, and given Harrison's priorities there's a good chance that it's waterfront development-related.

At least it's not bad news. May not be particularly good, but it's not bad.

Was late October the date we were all expecting the stadium vote?

Yes, which is why I started to dig around.

I think it's apparent that this wasn't "the big one" that we were hoping for, and for that, I apologize about raising hopes.

However, I agree with obie's earlier point that the $10MM may be for infrastructure improvements related to the project. If the HCIA returns my call, I'll pass along what I learn.

    LET'S GO METRO

Re: Stadium Bond Float APPROVED- Metro stadium thread

I just got off the phone with 'Ken' at the Metro office. He wasn't sure what the recent vote was for or about, could confirm nothing about the nature of the vote, but the office is firm in its conviction that the stadium is funded, and that ground breaking will occur this winter.

Look for an announcement at Christmas time. Sounds like Nick wants a shot at playing St. Nick. Believe it or not, that's less than 60 days.

I will go out on a limb, and accept the congratulations of the rest of the league's fans for Metro and Hudson County and Harrison for getting MLS of the meat hook in the Swamp.
