Another South London lad on the Chelsea watchlist: Eberechi Eze [21] an attacking midfield player at QPR. Eze was wanted by Poch at Spurs, but now Poch has gone. . . Atalanta's Swedish midfielder Dejan Kulusevski, currently on loan at Parma and linked with a move to Arsenal, Manchester United or Tottenham, has revealed he is a Chelsea fan
Today's transfer rumours are brought to you from Italia. Pedro has been linked with a move to Juventus. Juventus have already been linked with Willian and Emerson. Giroud is linked with AC Milan. Giroud is leaving. We may or may not be able to replace him due to the transfer ban. Napoli's 28-year-old Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. Mario Balotelli is available in the January window.
Chelsea find out today if the latest bid to get the transfer ban thrown out in time for January has been successful. IF we do, the priority has to be a centre forward. Giroud is leaving. Michy is not good enough. Tammy cannot always complete the 90 mins. We need a striker.
Left back. Dave might not be the LB answer we need. Alonso is on his way out. Emerson maybe also, but maybe not until the summer. Valencia Jose Gaya [24] is on the radar. Jose started life as a striker and made the switch to LB. Nice LB Youcef Atal [23] also on the radar.
Chilwell is the top target. Need to improve at the striker position. Otherwise, not much to improve until we see what Rüdiger can bring to the table.
Always need to improve. Sancho for Pedro. 90 million quid. Chillwell has been mentioned, but that 70 million quid price point is steep. Although, it is NOT our money.
The Athletic (Simon Johnson) I believe is saying that the Chilwell interest is a real thing. Also, Goal and Nizaar Kinsella is reporting that Sancho is also a real target and that the interest goes both ways.
Yes, yes we do. Although the news for RLC return is not so great. ‘Ruben has had a few setbacks over the last two months,’ Lampard said after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday night. ‘He hasn’t had a new one but it is not flying along as much as we would want and it is not for the want of trying by everybody, including Ruben himself. ‘There is nothing worse than being injured but at the moment we are no closer to him being fit.’
Yeah saw that news and it's a blow for sure. Getting him back is interesting because what he can do in midfield, we don't have anyone else who can do that.
Is this situation with RLC the most frustrating injury saga in recent club history? Made so much more so by how f*cking pointless that game was.
The amount of talk around Chillwell points to there being a real link. On the one hand, Leicester seem to be OK with selling their top stars and moving on (Maguire, Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater at the time) On the other, Leicester are really good right now and on track for CL football.
I genuinely struggle with seeing why someone would want to leave Leicester. They're a good side with a quality manager. They have a good young core. With all that said, Vardy can't play forever at this level and theh cannot match wage numbers. I think it's a real possibility.
It really is. Ruben is a real goal threat, more so than Mount and they're different players. Ruben is a threat I'll n the air and has a good shot and is surprisingly good with the ball at his feet in tight quarters for a man his size. Getting him, Pulisic, and Abraham in a side. And throw in CHO who runs at people and is always attacking space, who, that is more attacking talent than we've had in quite some time and each offers something different.
Leicester are willing to sell a few of their players when they get outrageous sums for them. They don’t sell otherwise. Kante is an exception because he had a buyout. The rest were hideously expensive. That’s why buying from Leicester is a bad idea.
It’s a pretty random injury - has he pulled a hamstring, I’d agree. This was just a freak occurrence. Could have happened any time.
RLC [23] might be the most talented of all our young stars. Winning that player of the tournament in the Toulon Tournament back in 2016 was a really a landmark achievement. However, he has had some real injury issues and it is very worrying tbh. Mason Mount has a better goal per game ratio, but as you say they are different players. RLC, Mount, Abraham, CHO, Pulisic and maybe even Sancho? Well, that would be something. Where would we even play [our to be purchased] South American wonder kids? Matias Godoy [17] and Reiner Jesus [17] ? And what about Ross Barkley? Today is Ross's birthday - he is 26 today.
I normally subscribe to this logic. Players need to play and that always comes with a risk. It's easy to say after the fact that a player who got hurt shouldn't have been out there. Except, in this case, RLC didn't need to play, and neither did anyone else, because it was a damn cash-grab friendly before the season was even over. Just needless all around. And in addition to this news of a setback, the frustration is even further increased by the circumstance of RLC's career and this season. For years, he's been a promising player (not even that young anymore!) who couldn't seem to earn any manager's trust enough to play regularly. That's partly on him for how he played at times, but given everything Frank has done to bring in the youth/homegrown guys this year, for this to be what looks increasingly like a lost year for him is just a massive disappointment and missed opportunity. And again, all for a meaningless game that should not have been played, scheduled, or even conceived of
It’s a random freak injury. By this argument we shouldn’t play friendlies or go on American/Asian tours.
