New article about DC in coming year out on SoccerTimes, by John Haydon: http://www.soccertimes.com/oped/2003/feb04.htm Focus is mainly on Stoichkov, which I think skews the whole article from being about the team to being about the player.
i am not sure where all these "purists" are dogging out MLS. most folks who follow football are impressed with the quality of play and how quickly the level of play has increased. its really beating a deadhorse. i think you have to expect that Hristo is going to be the focus of a lot of media, he is by far the biggest "name" in the league, at least to non-US fans. hopefully hristo can respond to the fawning with some late game heriocs sometime this season.
John Haydon is an Englishman and probably has a lot of imput from his compatriots to the level of play of MLS and thusly is comes across as bad opinions of MLS.. Haydon though knows better.. He is at all United home matches and has been here from the git go.. I'm sure WC 2002 went a long way towards gaining MLS a ton of respect overseas...
