Joined the site recently, and I've been trying to upload an avatar pic without any luck. Each time I try I get the "Exceeds 9.8kb" prompt. Unfortunately I don't have a way to edit it to get a smaller image. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm really enjoying the site and the great community that it has!
Microsoft Office Picture Manager is a software that can reduce the number of pixels and bites in an image - use the "Edit Picture" function, then "Resize."
Only you can answer this question. If you feel the need to one, yes. If you don't, no. However avatars are helpful to identify you to fellow posters since people tend to have better visual memory than memory for the hundreds, thousands of usernames that exist here.
Ugh, took forever to find an avatar that fit the circumstances. My advice is to use a Facebook profile photo!
I pushed my avatar down to 100 pixels x 100 and made it the lowest setting possible...and it is still 24kb. I can't get it down.
