I was just going to say if December was all season le Arse would be not as high up and we'd run away..It's not over yet we need a lot more to have a shot at winning. If we build a 3-8 point gap then maybe I'll start singing those praises, but let the next few games decided it 2 more games in the Prem in a 3 day span?

i dont want united to win it either, boring hearing the 'generic' united fans with all the rubbish that comes out of their mouths worldwide! (not all of them before im attacked by every tom, dick and harry from every orefice of the universe). im hoping man citeh or everton put together a world record run. personally, and that we clean sweep all the cups, not probable, but hopefully.

and yes, ive been to fratton park, and i'll be frank, i couldnt think of a place in the galaxy id rather not be. i went 3 seasons running when there was no roof on the away end, and it pissed down twice and the other time was new years day and hale stones were hitting me in the back of the head. it is a dump, its full of inbred 6-fingered banjo players with straw hats. it is just so dreary, their supporters are muppets.

we should rename the place texas.

i would apologise to the pompey faithful but i just dont care. im right, i know i am, i always am.

There's only one good time to be in Portsmouth, and that's when the uni lot are there - I know tons of people who go to Portsmouth Uni, it's a good place, loads of fit birds but they don't party with the natives, it would seem they would rather have a barn dance than a night on the town :p

I've been to Pompey a couple of times and sat with the home fans too. Doesn't change my opinion of the place. And BELIEVE ME I've been to some shitholes. Barnet comes to mind. (Could have gone for the WHL joke there :p)

*Cannot defend a city he's not gone out in more than twice this month!*

Uni towns are WEIRD things, but OLD MONEY uni towns are a different animal (Oxbridge/Brizzol etc)... As a local who went to Uni here I can say that the students DO NOT make the town better, the pretenciousness of "gown" and the way that the colleges keep their own student nights exclusive makes the scarf-wearing ruperts pretty much insular and seperated from the townspeople and their socialising...Little things like Uni students speak of "Cindies" nightclub to this day, the club hasn't been named that since before they left their private blazer and cap primary schools...

barca-Goon CL final on tv, 4got how lucky goon were to still be in it after ref randomly disallowed Giuly's goal and gave a free-kick outside the box....

    didn't he only get yellow?
that and i figured he got a yellow for praying as opposed to the tackle, cause that's the kind of thing that'd happen in america:p

and as far as counting chickens, when l'pool lost to reading it was like the farmer coming in and selling the eggs to the market, taking away the small chance the reds would make a miraculous run for the money.

Last I checked you only needed to win the title by one point. 17th after 3 games, everyone has written United off, top of the table at the midpoint. I must be a glory supporter because I'm proud of my team. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Garbage like this is why I don't post in the team and league sections of BigSoccer.

Hmm, when it comes to arguing about footy teams, it's just banter - nothing more.

It would all be a bit boring if all fans just agreed on things.

Mate read the rules. It was either a freekick and a red, or a goal and no card. Up to you. One or the other, not both.

Me personally I'd rather be 1-0 down with 11 men, than 0-0 with 10. My opinion.

I admit to not reading the rules of late, and admit (to my shame) for basing my claim on what the commentator said on the TV package, im of the opinion that in a general sense there should be room for a double penalisation for deliberate attempts at fouls that do not succeed, by your scenario lehmann could have ended eto'o's career and stayed on the field with Giuly's tap-in counting, which as you say is alot more preferable to being a man down but level scores...

Jus coz i love my skizz banter, so what would u say had a.cole's handball on the line yesterday not stopped the ball crossing the line? Or any outfield player diving to save a ball with their hand but only tipping it to the top-corner? Do they deserve to stay as their attempted cheating was unsuccessful? Again I do admit to not knowing the rules but I am led to believe there is a little thing called "intent" that seems pretty relevant here, if not intent to foul then dangerous play... either way the "one punishment is enough" argument is a cop-out of responsibility, a man running an old lady over in a stolen car doesn't have the luxury of mutually exclusive prosecutions, and whilst the circumstances are obviously different the principle is the same...

Eitherway I really hated the commentary at the time that kept banging on about how this had ruined a spectacle as if it was the refs fault and he should have let that german liability stay on the field coz there were powerful sponsors and a huge TV audience.....

All this aside, with Taylor poor yet grinding results out and Mardle a 100mph, perhaps British sport will regain a lil pride with Barney dying of flu (and barely able to scrape thru 4-1:rolleyes:)

I hate Phil Taylor with a passion. He's the most arrogant prick I've ever had the displeasure of meeting in my life. Complete tosser.

And yes true, cheating should be punished, but in all honesty every match would end 3 v 3 if you sent off/booked every person who cheated because you're thinking about fouls, shirt pulls, EVERYTHING that can be classed as cheating. A lorra lorra stuff.

Oh how it still hurts me to think of that CL Final...
To this day, I am still yet to watch Barca lift the trophy, or in fact anything that happened just a few seconds after that final whistle.

    And changing the topic...
I was chatting to my sister earlier. She asked me if I reckon most football players think that they are or are 'players'. To which I answered yes. Playing football, I realize that confidence often plays a bigger role in my game then my actual skill and fitness at the time. If my confidence is low, I usually won't play well. Now if you need to keep this confidence up week in week out, it's going to stick with you more often then not, and will carry over into your personality off the field...
Anyways, I just thought it was interesting and a big reason why footballers are often arrogant.

all about barney for me, taylor reminds me of peter kay throwing arrows.

and i'll be honest, it would have been a travesty if goons were to have gone on and won that final, barcelona were a super team that year, i think goons only ended up finishing 2 points above us that year following lasagne-gate and all that. football was the winner. and for judas to score in the final, and for that to be the winning goal, well i dunno what id have done if that had happened...

and i to r&w, i think footballers are arrogant as they are paid way too much, are pretty much celebrities in their own right and have birds throwing themselves at them left, right and centre. they are in love with themselves. just my opinion, you may be right.

Yeah, that definitely plays a big role in their arrogance - but then you also get many arrogant footballers that don't even play at such high levels. For instance, many of the players at my club are arrogant...

Which is what totally confuses me. You're playing what is essentially amateur football, and you're walking round like you're Pele. CRUNCH :p

On another note, I've just noticed I've passed 10,000 posts on here. How many of those were "Thread Closed" posts I wonder!! :D

Haha exactly, it's quite sad - they're just amateur footballers, but some of them just haven't realized it yet.:p
