I think the only way to determine whether this is the best DC United team ever is to count their contribution to the trophey case at the end of the season. As of right now, they've bowed out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the US Open Cup, and the SuperLiga without a trophey. Right now, it doesn't look good for giving them the crown right now. If this DC United team can put the Supports Shield, an MLS Cup, and a Copa Sudamericana cup into the trophey case by the end of 07, then one could argue they are the greatest team in club history. Until then... they're just good.

In its current format, NO MLS team will win the CCC anymore - Not until its switched to May/June/July and possibly merged with SuperLiga - That one woulda been nice, but nobody really cares about the US Open Cup anymore - Winning one of the remaining would put this team up amongst the greats - Heck, even just advancing to the Semis of the Copa would do that

And, in that time, it was a finalist in the 1997 Open Cup and the 1998 MLS Cup and a semifinalist in the 1997 CCC.
