He has been training for sometime now, IIRC he will be playing some lower division matches before rejoining Ajax, not sure when he is going to start playing those matches or if he has already.
He is still recovering. Here is an article from the other day about him. Apparently he is making progress. http://www.soccer365.com/US_NEWS/Am..._93_59673.shtml
Amazingly enough, he has. According to Het Niuews he was putting his new turbo Citroen through the paces down the A 58, stopped to take a piss behind a windmill outside of Roosendaal and fell right off the face of the planet. I must say, Dutch authorities were rather surprised. There are rumours he simply continued on to Belgium. Ajax officials, when asked about this are reported to have replied, "Belgium? Face of the planet? What's the difference?" Apparently, Steven Speilberg has option the rights to the Het Neiuws story and is in talks with the Orchid guy to write. Charlie wants Ron Howard to play John O'Brien in the parrallel dimension. Stay tuned for details.
Belgium eh? You might be on to something there. Has anyone ever seen John O'Brien and Tin Tin in the same room? I didn't think so.
Champions League I found this article on the Ajax website concerning their game tomorrow against Celta Vigo: http://www.ajax.nl/show/id=1322/contentid=31466 Johnny O is mentioned, but I can't understand what it says about him. Perhaps our Dutch speakers can fill us in.
Re: Champions League I don't speak Dutch, but I did stay at a.... He (and the others listed) are out for the CL game against Celta. He was training this weekend and Monday lightly, doing a lot of dribbling and working with cones per another piece on Ajax's site.
Perhaps there will be an automatic spot open for JOB, if he is truly close to recovery: Injured Trabelsi out for six weeks
According to this week's "MNT European Update" e-mail from U.S. Soccer, it provides this update on JOB... O'Brien has returned to light fitness training while continuing to rehab the right Achilles tendon injury which plagued him throughout the 2002-03 season Says nothing, however, about when his return would take place. Nothing of the sort mirrored on U.S. Soccer's site, so that's the official word.
