From my point of view with the recent title, Argentina has definitely surpassed Italy

Italian football is in big trouble. At Euro 2024, only one player on the squad (Darmian) has ever played in a World Cup match. This is unthinkable for a nation like Italy. Should we qualify for the WC in 2026, no player would have any World Cup experience. The 2021 the squad at least had veterans like Chiellini, Bonucci, Verratti, Insigne, and Immobile, but now we have nobody. Chiesa, sadly due to injuries, is not the player he was. Tonali wantonly damaged his career. Barella is great, Bastoni and hopefully Califiori are good defenders, and Donnarumma is class. But otherwise it is worrying time to be an Italy supporter. The problems run so deep and go beyond football that its hard to see it change. We have been reduced to hoping for underdog victories, aided by our pedigree, but even hoping for victories like Euro 2021 seem far-fetched now that experienced champions no longer exist in our squads. With Spaletti being staying in charge after one of the worst ever performances in a major tournament I've seen in my time... it may not be too long until Italy falls off the podium. Really hoping for something to change, one day....

Why do you think Spaletti couldn't replicate his work with Napoli just one season before?
