i am putting together a move to germany and will be taking two cats - has anybody had this experience - any tips or suggestions would be helpful - i may try to take them as carryon and am also considering tranquilizers - i'm not too hip on flying them as cargo - i'd even take a cruise but that would probably cost a fortune - thanks in advance
1- if you'd ever drove with them in the car, you might not say that LOL - the vet said that they were big and healthy enough that they should be fine - besides it keeps them from having to eat, make or go apemerde in a small carrier for 12 hours - anyway i hadn't decided 2- cargo air freight is a possibility but i really worry about it being summer - i would freak if i got off the plane and one had died or something in any event, i'm trying to figure out the best way to SAFELY fly them over
When I moved to Sweden, we had 3 cats come along with us. They came in their carriers, and went under out seat like carry-on luggage would. We could pet them during the flight so that they would know all is well. They were completely fine with it, except for one of them didn't really like taking off.... Just meowing, not going crazy or anything. When we got to the airport in Stockholm, there was a guy to meet us there, who took our kitties so they could go into quarantine for 4 months. I did it with carry-on and no tranqs, and had no problems.
looks like i'm goin' with cargo freight sonicdream, didn't realize they could arrange climate control - probably cheaper too - you win lol shoulda known to listen to an AJAX fan
Can you do this while staying state-side? My mom has a cat-sized dog, and refuses to let him be put in cargo. I know that, when my brother bought both of his Dobermans, they came up from Mississippi in the cabin, not cargo.
When we went to Texas for the summer about 5 years ago my mom took her dog (a Pekingese) as carry-on luggage. You should be able to do that with cats, and some dogs (they'd have to be small enough and well-behaved, which rules my Westie out).
