The United States beat Algeria and faces Ghana next. Since I'm assuming a World Cup group has never had two African teams, in order for a team to play consecutive games in the same World Cup against African opponents at least one of the games must be in a knockout round or second group stage when there was one. Has this ever happened before?
Re: Has A Team Ever Played Consecutive Games In The Same World Cup Against African Opponents? [R US- Good find. I don't think it has. Just quickly scanned through results of African teams when they've reached the last 16 from this site. I couldn't find any team that has played two African teams back to back.
