That is great news! That means the MAC tourny winner will retain their automatic bid to the College Cup, right? I had been checking the Zips web site every couple of days for the 2007 schedule and last night I found it posted. It did not have Hartwick scheduled and still does not. Thanks for the info.

Akron is dropping Duquenue on 10/6 and adding Hartwick.

"Zips fans can catch a sneak peek at the Hawks as they will join the Zips, UAB and New Mexico in the third annual Westfield Insurance Cup, Aug. 31-Sept. 2 at Lee Jackson Field. Akron and Hartwick will meet in Mid-American Conference action on October 6, also at Lee Jackson Field."

    Here's a link from Akron.

I think this will change all of the MAC school's schedules.

What does thi smean for the Atlantic Soccer Conference? Philadelphia University was already leaving with their move to Division 2 and now Hartwick is gone. 4-5 teams does not make a legitimate conference. Will other sjoin or will the ASC disappear?

Interesting question, Howard is still looking for a coach. 5 teams, NJIT, Longwood, Florida Atlantic, Howard, Adelphi doesn't make a conference.

I think ASC is going to try and find another team - may not be easy. ASC has been around for 2-3 years (something like that).

I think Hartwick will be a good fit in the MAC. They have been a fairly consistent program in recent years and should make the conference a little more interesting. Although, I'm sure the teams won't be real excited about a second trip out east. Some of the schools may try to schedule Buffalo and Hartwick on the same weekend. It is an unusual fit in that it makes for a long trip for most of the MAC teams.

Certainly a step up for my team. I'm looking forward to the new matchups.

I'm not sure what'll happen to the ASC, though I'd be surprised if they are able to continue.

Not exactly a battle of the Titans.

To me, they will always be the Warriors and not the politically correct Hawks.

Howard filled their coaching position by hiring Joseph Okoh from Shepherd University (Div II).

    From the ASC's website:
And, FWIW, i do think the ASC is on life support. Longwood is probably heading to a conference (Big South?) as soon as they are fully Division 1.

P.S. Time to update this thread?
