I was just about to post this! I was really hoping that things would work out here for Harksey.

Hey Eggy- there's our confirmation. Think of the $$'s we could have made ;)

well it didn't sound like anything was currently being worked out...just questions in the air. hopefully he will be around next year still....like i said before, i don't care if he never steps foot on the pitch, id be happy with him just being in columbus and helping the team.

This same sorta story happened last year. I really don't expect anything to happen.
What would work permit issues be over there for Harkes? Is it different cause its not a Premeirship Club, Ican';t imagine him quyalifying.

They've never stopped admiring him over there, and Harksey has said that the feeling is mutual. Some mgmt. spots opened-up on their club recently. Surely they pay better than the (relatively) small salary he gets from MLS. He got his permit once, I'll bet they could expedite for him.

I would love to see him stay-on at The Crew and be player/coach. When Bob announced his retirement, that was the first thought to pop into my mind. However, if the best thing for Johnny is to be at Sheffield, then I'll be the first to sadly say Bon Voyage.

He had a deal supposedly all worked out for him to go back there early this year. Unfortunately for him, a defender got injured and they only had one signing option (whatever the hell it is over there) left and had to use it to pick up a man-marker.

The Sheffield fans still love him and the feeling is mutual. Those, and not the DC years, were his best days as a pro.

It's where he wants to finish his career, and I wish him Godspeed.

I thought he qualified the first time because he has a Scottish? passport...so I don't think WP will be a problem

It pains me to say that Eggy is right, but (with some info from me!) he came-up with a better prediction than LaToya did on her psychic hotline.

See, you shoulda tipped-off Chris Bergin for a little cash ;)

    From today's MLS Confidential:

I really feel he should be doing for us what Bob did last season. Maybe we couldn't get the funds together, or maybe Greg just wants to invest in young talent. I dunno, but I feel really sad right now.

Yep, LUD told me Harkes will probably be leaving and said he missed England. That was the same day Terry Yorath and Co. resigned from Sheffield Wednesday.

I am very smart you know.

PS. They did hire Chris Turner I know, but it wouldn't surprise me for him to find some spot on the coaching staff.

Wednesday needs all the help it can get right now. Perhaps Harkesy can join Turner at Hillsborough

Whenever I hear Harkes and Sheffield Wednesday mentioned I think of the famous NY Times headline, "John Harkes to transfer to Sheffield, Wednesday".
