Breakers See Positives in Loss Pia stopped just short of the prverbial loser's refrain of "we outplayed them but we lost", but she did say, "I thought we played very well today". And... "If we can have a similar performance against San Jose,..." then you will have lost two in a row and will be winless in 5 games. It won't be easy to put a positive spin on that.
They played pretty well. They were playing the Beat. They didn't lose 6-0. Its called a moral victory.
Yea, that plus a buck and a quarter will get you a ride on the Metro Link. (the local light rail) It's called spin doctoring. My favorite is the NFL gidiron coach who said, "I think we're close to having a pretty good team." (emphasis mine) An all-time classic!! Hedge your bets a little, why don't ya? He was fired at the end of the season. At least a season too late.

Give up a goal like that and losing IS justice. Actually, they got off easy just losing one game because of it. The boneless fish had a moral victory I guess, for all that's worth.
I'm an SJ fan and I'll admit that it was a good game and created alot of great opportunities and couldnt finish. They won because they were able to take advantage of their opportunity (created by Beene herself, Hope Solo style ), while we were not.
