My wife and I will be driving down to Bradenton, Florida tonight after work, to celebrate Christmas with my family. I'll try to get online while we're there, but it will be for limited times. And I'll be pretty busy at work today trying to get everything ready for me to leave, so I don't know how much time I'll have to surf BS today. So I wanted to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Killer Kwaanza, Slamming Solstice, Fantastic Festivus, or whichever holiday is appropriate for you and yours at this time of year. Well, each and every one of you except for the Republicans. Oh, ok, Republicans too. See you all back on line on December 28th or so.
add happy eid to that for all the muslims anyways merry christmas all and happy new year. enjoy florida with ur wife
I think the proper salute from Krusty is "A merry Christmas, a happy Hanukkah, a kwazy Kwanzaa, and a solemn and dignified Ramadan." But Ramadan is over, so a solemn and dignified eid is most logical.
Ranting In A Winter Wonderland That's MISTER JoPak to you, buddy! I celebrate "Yay, The Days Are Finally Getting Longer Again" with many glasses of spiked eggnog. Mike, you forgot to include "Buddha's Enlightenment Day" (December 30 this year, for those keeping score at home) in your list. Everyone have a happy, safe, and [sam kinison scream] rabidly consumerist holiday while enjoying all those gifts made by hungry, abused women and children toiling six or seven days a week in virtual slavery in sweatshops![/sam kinison scream]
Thanks for including us Republicans there Mike. Happy holidays to you an your family from both Vicky and myself.
I get to fly home to Massachusetts via Manchester, NH on Buddha Enlightenment Day! Happy Holidays to all.
My name is Francis Tolliver. I come from Liverpool. Two years ago the war was waiting for me after school. To Belgium and to Flanders, to Germany to here, I fought for King and country I love dear. It was Christmas in the trenches where the frost so bitter hung. The frozen field of France were still, no Christmas song was sung. Our families back in England were toasting us that day, their brave and glorious lads so far away. I was lyin' with my mess-mates on the cold and rocky ground when across the lines of of battle came a most peculiar sound. Says I "Now listen up me boys", each soldier strained to hear as one young German voice sang out so clear. "He's singin' bloddy well you know", my partner says to me. Soon one by one each German voice joined in in harmony. The cannons rested silent. The gas cloud rolled no more as Christmas brought us respite from the war. As soon as they were finished a reverent pause was spent. 'God rest ye merry, gentlemen' struck up some lads from Kent. The next they sang was 'Stille Nacht". "Tis 'Silent Night'" says I and in two toungues one song filled up that sky. "There's someone commin' towards us" the front-line sentry cried. All sights were fixed on one lone figure trudging from their side. His truce flag, like a Christmas star, shone on that plain so bright as he bravely strode, unarmed, into the night. Then one by one on either side walked into no-mans-land with neither gun nor bayonet we met there hand to hand. We shared some secret brandy and wished each other well and in a flare-lit soccer game we gave 'em hell. We traded chocolates, cigarettes and photgraphs from home these sons and fathers far away from families of their own. Young Sanders played his squeeze box and they had a violin this curious and unlikely band of men. Soon daylight stole upon us and France was France once more. With sad farewells we each began to settle back to war. But the question haunted every heart that lived that wonderous night "whose family have I fixed within my sights?" It was Christmas in the trenches where the frost so bitter hung. The frozen fields of France were warmed as songs of peace were sung. For the walls they'd kept between us to exact the work of war had been crumbled and were gone for ever more. My name is Francis Tolliver. In Liverpool I dwell. Each Christmas come since World War One I've learned it's lessons well. That the ones who call the shots won't be among the dead and lame and on each end of the rifle we're the same. -- John McCutcheon "Christmas in the trenches"
Merry Christmas everyone. May the love of the Christ Child fill one and all this holiday season. BTW, if you want warmer, come here. It will be about 70-75 today. No white Christmas here though.
Hey guys. I just wanted to express my feelings for this holiday season. Make every day count, but keep these special days with friends and family. Have a good one, a cold one and spread some cheer in this new year. I am off to see the family, wish me luck. This is the year I tell them of my bigsoccer addiction.
Merry Christmas and a great 2004 to everyone. Lots a fun with ya mates, good fortune in love and that y'all get whatever your heart desires.
I really appreciate the idea of so many diverse people basically wishing good cheer for everyone. Oh, how I wish we could all just get along every day and everywhere. PEACE
Happy Holidays to everyone in the politics forum. I wish for all of you a happy new year. May we all continue to defend our personal ideologies with integrity while accepting gracefully that others have different points of view. And always remember: Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly. * *I stole this line from Bay Area radio talk show host Ralph Barbieri) Peace.
