I missed this Michel Platini’s ridiculous key pass to Jacques Zimako against Bayern Munich in 1979. That’s why there will be a part two when I get around to it. And whoever has the time and wants to laugh should watch France vs Canada in 1986. Jean Pierre Papin delivered the absolute worst performance I have seen in my life. I mean ever It was so diabolical that the English commentator said and I’m quoting verbatim “Well we’re in a city whence it’s said that 90 million pairs of shoes are sold each year and I can only suggest that Jean Pierre Papin goes in search for a different pair of boots because he’s never going to score with these ones” And what’s even funnier is that he ended up scoring later in the match, the flukiest goal you’ll ever see, and his own teammate tried to claim it Sofascore gave him a 8/10 and all I can say is that is complete BS.
Jean Pierre `Papin ... at averages at Ac Milan years .. was very very Bad on my view ... was fantastic at O. Marseille .. from France ... and Belgian Clubs ..also;;; But.... at Ac Milan ... never shone really !
yes... I saw this whole Game as well once like you did it completely right now . ! some years ago already Carlito 86 .. !
First 140 Games Clutch Goals and Assists (Opta) First 300 Games Clutch Goals and Assists (Opta) First 500 Games
Papin was pretty good in his first season with AC Milan and his overall record there (31 goals in 62 games) is not that bad considering he was quite often on the bench.
..... I'm not speaking about amount Of Goals in general . I'm speaking about averages Of performances in general .. It is normal ... to score .. 0, 50 % per game to one pure Attacker like Papin was ..But nothing extraordinary ! .... .. I saw so many many whole Matches Papin playing for Ac Milan ... ! honestly ... i don't like it completely ... weaker performances ....for sure .. !
... Papin .. at O.Marseille from France and for belgian Clubs.... simply at the same level as Romario's Peak .... simply Insane Goals ...completely ...and with very very good performances also ... when Papin drop deeper Out of the box .... .......... .. also Papin making great Plays .. "!
Gullit saved the Ac Milan ... in 1992/1993 ... season ....even on the Bench .... against ... Torino ...As Roma .... Foggia ...away-games ,,.. etc,etc,etc , .. ! even against .. FC Porto ... away-game .. 1992/1993 ... when Papin ..did it ... a great Goal . !
... .. he was quite often on the bench. yes .. But Gullit also .... Gullit was visibly being mocked or humiliated by Fabio Capello in 1992/1993 season . Gullit was also playing well in the games, and Fabio Capello always took him out of the games as soon as possible . "! ........ .. Gullit... was beloved by Arrigo Sacchi, Even though Gullit was injured... Arrigo Sacchi, he would put Gullit in to play. already Capello Fabio .......Of course ...that not not... so ... with Papin .. Capello Fabio .. He was nice to him
Jean Pierre Papin moved to Serie A when he was 29 years old and maybe there is something in that All of these points can be true at the same time: That he had a rather unimpressive international career, despite what looks like a very goal scoring record for his country. That he was genuinely world class for Marseille both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League for a stretch of fewer than five seasons. And that even greater strikers than himself like Andriy Shevchenko and Ronaldo Nazário were already in decline by age 29, while Romário himself could no longer cope with European football at that age. Romário’s last great performance against a world class European team was against Manchester United in late 1994 when he was 28 years old 2 November 1994: Manchester United are thrashed in Barcelona | Sport | The Guardian He scored a few goals against Manchester United again in 2000, if i remember correctly, but European teams didn’t care about the FIFA Club World Cup in the late 1990s. We’ve seen even in its most recent edition how much it means to South American teams, as they see it as a source of bragging rights for one or two or three favourable results against European sides. We don’t care at all even if they do.
.... .. I mean Like Football Manager the game of the virtual Head-coaches around the entire World ... ..... If you wished or asked to me ...as main Head-Coach ... in the season 1990/1991 around the World ... Wiliam Felipe working like a Scouter to you ... I rate Jean Pierre Papin ... as higher priority to hire him ... number one 1## in the whole World .... ! than I saw ...him ... playing ..... in France and in Belgium ..... totally ..Insane moments ... even ahead ..Romário, Bebeto , Marco Van Basten , Hugo Sanchez and Diego Armando Maradona 1 - Jean Pierre Papin 2- Gianluca Vialli 3- Ruben Sosa 4- Roberto Mancini 5- Antonio Careca 6- Raí due to high performances from 1986 to 1991 ..... .. Regarding national teams in general: They are overrated... They represent only... between 10% and 15% of a player's entire career. So ... I would hire Papin yes for sure ... ... He was phenomenal at O. Marseille from France .. Honestly, I don't know if Romário, Nazario, or Schevackenko were really much better than Papin from Marseille ... for me .. Papin... was slightly better ... than All them ..... at Marseille .... What impressed me most... because of the beautiful goals at Marseille .. . Man... Ronaldo Nazario de Lima has no bicycle kick goals in his entire career; and no higher volley goals like Bebeto Papin Hugo Sanchez Antonio Careca Van Basten Marco Rivaldo Vialli GianLuca Viola etc.etc.etc.. ......... .. That's why I say Papin at AC Milan for me it was very disappointing I was one bigger Fan Of Papin ..... more younger ..in my life .. "!
Really .... ???? for sure ... no Frank 73 !. no way Frank 73 ... even ....brazilian Attackers rating Marco Van Basten .. much more higher than you ... like Romario the littleman Antonio Careca Evair El Matador ... Muller Walter Casa Grande Jr .... o Casão... Tita ... .. They mention and they remember memorable performances by Van Basten on the pitch . ............ I agree with you... largely... and some of your criticisms of Van Basten yes. But being a denier all the time is not the best way to define...the concrete facts. We cannot erase Van Basten's great performances. (by AC Milan)
.... Romário had ..... great years ...... at .......1997 ... with the double ..or duo.... Romário and ..Ronaldo Nazario de Lima ... .. at 1999 and ..2000 .... Copa-Mercosul ..Brazil Cup..... and Brasileirão... in 2000 were 73 Matches 73 Goals 16 Assists ... ..... with Juninho Paulista .... Juninho... Per ....Euller .....Viola ....Felipe ...etc.etc..etc.

6 of Romario’s 7 CL goals in 1992/93 were scored against AEK Athens Zalgiris Porto And he lost 6 of the 9 games he played in the 92/93 CL Romário - Stats 92/93 | Transfermarkt Raw goal totals and GPG mean nothing without context and his 1993/94 Champions League run was just as poor with the only difference being that Stoichkov’s performances covered for him until they met AC Milan. Romário was never at any point a top level European Cup/Champions League performer. What he brings to the table is one good World Cup tournament scoring 5 goals and one elite campaign in a top 5 European league(La Liga 93/94). And for what it’s worth Sofascore doesn’t seem to think he was even a top 3 player on his own team let alone being a legitimate golden ball contender/winner. You can feel free to disagree with this of course but way before Sofascore even existed it was pretty much accepted across the board that the best player of the 1994 World Cup groupstages was Gheorghe Hagi and the best player of the KO rounds was Roberto Baggio. Romario was not the only supreme statpadder from his era Marco Van Basten was another 8 of his 19 EC/CL goals came in just two matches(42%) He put four past Levski Sofia in 88/89 and four past IFK Göteborg in 92/93 (the same team that dismantled Romário’s farmer PSV). The difference is that Van Basten still produced when it mattered, scoring in EC semi finals and finals. Romário never did that or even came close to doing that. As far as this thread is concerned Michel Platini is clear of both.
................. .. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/g...0s-60s-70s-80s-and-90s.2137104/#post-43331844 Yes... since this is about Michel Platini topics and career... I won't answer about that here... Carlito 86... We can talk about this... At greater performances. Thread ..
