I'm working on a story about Hao Haidong. There are many reasons why he moved to Sheffield United in 2005, mostly commercial, but I also heard rumours when I was in China that he moved to England, because of the one-child-policy in China. He had already one or two children and the second/third coming up. To stay out of trouble over that was one of the reasons moving to Sheffield. Does any of you (who are able to read Chinese) know anything about it? Looking for details, how many children, when born, name of his wife, stuff like that. Thanks in advance, Jan
They said that he had some financial problems with his company. He was not allowed to leave intially because he had some debts. I forgot the details. As for the one-child policy, I doubt that it is a problem. He can buy his way out "legally".
I thought he moved because he wanted to learn to be a manager, isnt he an academy coach now? I did watch a special on him once on Football Night, he does seem like a hyperactive manager, he spoke of how he cant sit still and how hes a practical person when it comes to things off the pitch.
Thanks Excape goat & Fevernova99 for your quick replies. Yes, he was there also to learn as a manager and become the bridge between Sheffield and Chinese football (especially the club Chengdu Five Bulls). And he sure did have financial issues before leaving (unpaid loan of half a million), but there are still rumours about his children. People told me he paid for his second child, but a new minister of population and family planning did want rich and famous people to get away with it. Still looking for proof. If you find any, please, thanks in advance, Jan
I did not follow the news closely. I believed the new minister is very new after Hao Haidong left for England.
