I think this is a great article and yes one day FIFA will bring in what the other sports of the world currently have in place - Handballs & Bad calls; time for the replay at the World Cup

[QUOTEThe answer is that FIFA and soccer fans love the human element of the game. Why should anyone love the human element in a game when it keeps one team from advancing to World Cup and could possibly keep another team from advancing deeper in the World Cup?[/QUOTE]

When you have soccer matches as important as the ones in the world cup, then FIFA should not only allow replays, but enforce their use. Seriously, it wouldn't take that long to review a play. Something like the Thierry Henry handball would have taken 5 seconds to review and the goal would have been disallowed. Simple as that.

I don't think instant replay should be mandatory in every competition, but at least in WCQ and the actual World Cup.

Also, explaining what the call was should be 100% mandatory for all refs in all competitions. It's ridiculous that a ref doesn't have to explain his reason for disallowing a (potentially) game winning goal.

I'd accept replay for whether the ball crossed the goal line and post game review to sanction players but nothing more.

The human element keeps it interesting.

Yeah, keep making difference from one competition to another just to make it like another plastic sport...

    The answer is simple:

Sepp Blatter can't fix games as easily with replay as he can with "the human element".

Read "The Fix" (forget the author, but it was promoted on at least one soccer podcast) for more on that crap.

The human element raises concerns the games are being manipulated. Ask any American sports fan (long before the call on Friday) with a brain about that one.

Yes, god forbid they actually implement something that could prevent this type of thing from happening. I mean, what are they thinking, actually wanting to get a call right and attempt to avoid all this complaining? Everybody knows these ref's never make mistakes, just ask FIFA.

    It's pure madness!
