World Handball Championship Germany vs. Croatia Channel surfing after calling it an early night and I came across a news bit on the 2003 Handball World Cup. I have never seen it before, but the highlights from the Germany-France game were really impressive. Looks like a lot of fun to play, and a lot of fun to watch too. Germany beat France (def. champs) 23-22, and Croatia beat Spain 39-37. They play tomorrow in the final, and France will meet Spain for 3rd place. Persoanlly, after watching 2 minutes of highlights I think Germany will win it all.
I hope so. I have money on them. What i never understood about this game is how the hell you want to be a goalkeeper. Painful, just painful
Hell no. At least give em a few pads around the face and nuts. I would say it is a combination of basketball and football (soccer). Looks like a hell of a lot of fun to play.
we used to play in middle and high school gym classes, our gym teacher in both schools were from england and they gave all of us a lesson about the sport and it was by far the best week of phsyical education...i think everyone liked playing handball.
I remember playing something very similar going by the same name way back in middle school, but I would love to get a real game going with friends out here at school. It looked to be one of those game where the rules make it just a bit more interesting.
France def. Spain 27-22 to take 3rd place. Croatia def. Germany 34-31 to finish 1st. Germany finishes 2nd in a World Cup for the second time in a year. Ouch. Results and News
I used to be a goalie when I played it growing up in Brazil. The only reason being that I was overweight and couldn't run too fast, so they'd put me in goal. It was fun, I ended up with some red marks on my legs and arms, but that was the extent of the injuries of my career.
Random Note The son-in-law of Spain's King Juan Carlos II (Inaki Urdangarin) is a former handball player for FC Barcelona and Spain's National Team. He played in the 1996 (where he met his future wife, Infanta Cristina- the younger daughter of JC II) and 2000 Olympics before retiring. He was one of the, if not the top player for FC Barcelona- and also in 2000 was named the Basque Sportsman of the Year- an award which was given to him by his wife.
