West Ham have signed another midfielder named Miguel Barrera; he's a young Mexican with virtually no real experience, as far as I can see. We need goal scorers, not more midfielders. Does anyone have any good information about real possibilities in the transfer market?
Re: Hammers sgn Barrera...who? for the lazy... Mute if you want.
Re: Hammers sgn Barrera...who? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCzfVQd_Q8Y"]Pablo Barrera[/ame] It's a compilation of his goals and assists over the past three years with his ex-club UNAM and the Mexican U20 and Senior squads. Min 5:40, goal against Haiti off a corner is my favorite so far. Here's something more recent from FIFA and the 2010 WC. FIFA Best Move - Pablo Barrera Barrera against France.
Re: Hammers sgn Barrera...who? Good signing, he is a winger rather than a midfielder, will give us some width and he is lightning fast, he gave Evra nighmares
Re: Hammers sgn Barrera...who? Good signing, providing the work permit goes through. He is a winger and although he is right footed, he is almost as good with his left. He has just two gears. Lightning fast and the top gear, which approaches the speed of light. He will be a favourite of Stomper's.
Re: Hammers sgn Barrera...who? This kid is real nice with his. His speed is what really makes him exciting to watch. One vs one he's gold to get by the defender with a decent amount of space. You probably signed Mexico's second/third best prospect behind Javier Hernandez and a few others.
Re: Hammers sgn Barrera...who? Miguel? Really? That hard to look him up? Barrera should push for a starting spot at West Ham.
Some new defenders would be nice. Loic Remy's a waste of time if we still have the shaky defence we had this year.
We need to sign at least one quality fullback, maybe two, depending on what form Illunga is in this year.
OK; now we know which Barrera it is who's been signed! It's Pablo Barrera, a young winger, and he cost 4.5 million pounds, according to Sky Sports; also, and I think very good news, is that we've signed Fredric Piquionne from Lyon. He played for Portsmouth last season, and is a very good player. He's on a 3-year contract. There will really be competition now for starting places. The key for the season will be if Grant can come up with the best combination to get good results. We'll soon find out.
I wonder what formation he will use? I believe he had a 4-4-2 with Chelsea. He had Drogba just ahead of Anelka(or maybe it was the other way around?). Barrera would be best used as a wing, imo.
Barrera is a great young talent who is fast and quick with the ball! He is going to be a good addition to you guys! Hopefully he adjusts quickly to the league and soon he will be worth more than what you guys paid for him!
This guy is a beast. He just needs to work on his finishing and he can truly become a nightmare for all.
You dont know West Ham do you? He will show promise then get injured for 2 to three years, put on about 50 lbs in weight and be revealed as having a 3 pack a day smoking habit
and go shopping with the missus when expected to be playing. And finally escaping through a bathroom window and never returning back to England.
Obviously you guys don't know about Pumas. Because he's already done all that you mentioned in Mexico. Plus he was sentenced to do 32 years when authorities found out he was the head of a huge drug cartel. Instead of jail time they told him he could no longer play futbol in the country. ONE of the reasons why he is now playing abroad. Now if he infuses energy into the drug trade out there. I think he'll be a legend for other reasons far greater than football. edit: I forgot to mention most of the above took place whilst on the youth squad. Good luck with the rise in cocaine addiction in the U.K.
To be honest I´ve grown to have doubts over Mexican players in Europe. But then again You never know: Marquez does well in Barca, Sanchez was a phenomenon at Bernabeu etc. Would´ve wished Franco to be staying. He did well too.
I can damn near assure you Barrera will be much better than Franco. Barring some crazy injury(s), or him wanting to sneak cocaine into the country via footballs, goal posts, and artificial grass. He is no doubt a top three prospect in Mexico. I know our track record isn't grand, but these new guys(Barrera included) should change all that within the years to come. Cheers to a good season, West Ham. Except when ya play the mighty CHELSEA!!!
I think the current crop of Mexicans in Europe have been mostly successful, but I understand the skepticism. Barrera will not disappoint...
