That's right! Yet another Bundesliga side will be sharing their facility with an NFL Europe franchise. It was announced today that the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe will be calling the AOL Arena home beginning in 2005.
the pitch is a piece of crap anyway, and its already changed every few month, so there wont be a big difference, besides the NFL Europe only plays in april, may and june.
This makes 5 of the 6 NFL Europe teams German-based (and Amsterdam is close enough). Are the Germans the only European fans who can tolerate American football, or is it the case that the Germans have a better business model than elsewhere?
Good question. Maybe we are not as anti-american as everybody thinks and maybe there are still a lot of GIs who watch the games (especially in Frankfurt). I'm looking forward to the new team, coz now I have the oppurtunity to see some good American Football besides watching NFL on pay-tv.
Actually i dunno, Berlin and Frankfurt are typicall German cities for Americans though, but the Ruhrarea and hamburg would be considered more British I suppose. Don't forgett that we have - besides the Russians and the Turks - more ppl than anyone else, and more money than most, and more open minded... I mean (Ice) Hockey is pretty popular here, too...
