Is there a link to this article? Source? Would like to see more details. I don’t have many reasons to doubt it though. Similar thoughts have been publicly expressed at different levels of Israeli government and politics.
Can't help noticing this is after there have been stories about hamas fighters being captured. One good thing that might come out of this... hopefully we can dispense with these stories that everyone in Gaza supports hamas now. You don't normally need gun fire to stop people getting their hands on you if they all support you.
Welcome to the thread BTW Mebe nice to get some measured comment from your POV (even if you overrate Wenger)
This is what people keep missing. In a FPTP voting system if you don't vote for Biden you're voting for Trump.
I understood my previous tweet caused some reactions. As I did not mean in any way to disrespect the victims of Dutroux, I will delete it . But the point stands, here is the corrected version: Salah Abdeslam is also someone’s child. Some people’s children commit horrible… pic.twitter.com/Sy0xk4Vq84— Ambassador Idit Rosenzweig-Abu (@IditAbu) November 29, 2023 Invoking Dutroux in this context is kind of insane. And also so weirdly specific that her walking back of the statement is weird. I cannot imagine that's a name she just pulled out of her hat.
I believe this is meant to be the original source of that claim: https://www.israelhayom.co.il/magazine/hashavua/article/14889801
One nazi at a time dude, one nazi at a time Of course, people could also involve themselves more in politics if they want to achieve a change in the policies on offer from the parties liable to stand a chance of getting elected. But, then, that would mean having to possibly compromise on their delicate sensibilities and NOBODY wants that
And the alternative will be worse, we had a four year preview already. You're fine with that. So be it, indeed.
Seems like the IDFs goal is to drive Pals into the Sinai and de-populate Gaza as much as possible. Rafah now has hundreds of thousands of refugees.
Exactly - this was the whole reason the @Knave rule was coined on this forum. if you don't like things, you need to organise and use your electoral weight. The dumbest thing you can do is acquiesce - that is actually how you get fascism.
The problem with US foreign policy, particularly Biden, isn't what he's doing now. It's utterly ludicrous cover he's provided in the past. Can you imagine any previous US president giving cover of another country guilty of apartheid or, at least, acts not dissimilar to it? At the very least they should have been more detached. If they had been the Israelis might not have been so aggressive in continuing to invade the west bank and blockade gaza... or maybe they would. But at least they wouldn't be able to claim they'd got western backing for their aggression.
Yeah, but probably losers who haven't asked the basic question, what's in it for them? Also, not donny tiny hands supporters I'm guessing.
I'm never sure how seriously to take this account but it is a data point. Apparently there is increased push back on Hamas. The dramatic scenes as local Gazans throw stones and withstand gunfire from Hamas agents in order to stop them from looting new humanitarian aid shipments that crossed in from Rafah. pic.twitter.com/pWbEx2g9BN— Gaza Report - اخبار غزة (@gaza_report) December 5, 2023
@The Jitty Slitter , I will never tolerate any slight or disrespect toward Arsene. Consider yourself warned.
Here's a speech from July by the guy interviewed in the podcast Yasik posted. The guy is NOT a fan of Netenyahu. The speech is from a protest against the government back in July https://mattifriedman.com/2023/07/09/speech-at-jerusalem-protest-9-7-23/ Basically, he sees Netenyahu's government as threatening Israel with the same dissolution faced by Lebanon decades ago... In the Netanyahu government, a minister from the violent fringes of the right is given control of the police, and his own militia. Another minister from the messianic edge of the settler movement is handed control of the state treasury. Taxpayers’ money is taken not to integrate the Haredi population, but to buttress Haredi autonomy. Political cracks are becoming visible in the army. Anyone who knows Lebanon knows where this can lead.
Wild story: someone took out an enormous short position against Israeli stocks five days before the October 7th attack, orders of magnitude bigger than normal trading activity and big enough to have made billions of shekels when the market crashed. https://t.co/wwzC5D6z07— Gregg Carlstrom (@glcarlstrom) December 4, 2023 Weird story.
Also in development are claims that a UNRWA teacher held one of the hostages. https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-776284 I find this particularly outrageous because the UNRWA official response was to demand that the twitter post be taken down. https://www.unrwa.org/newsroom/offi...ated-claims-about-unrwa-must-immediately-stop
At the very least there should be conditions attached to the $3.5bn of military welfare a year the US provides. Of course the political reality is that Congress would likely override any attempt by Biden to do so.
