This is kind of a strawman, I don't think anyone here has even tried to claim that there aren't nutjobs on the left too. The pushback has been against pretty much every type of pro-Palestinian statement being tossed in the same category, whether it is clearly antisemitic or not. e.g. the kids whose job offers were apparently rescinded for social media posts, I would argue it is impossible to judge if that decision is warranted or not without knowing exactly what was posted.
I read this in the Haaretz no less, (IIRC). I could not watch the video though. I still have images of Tamir Rice gunned down by police in Ohio in my mind. In what world do you open fire on a 8 yrs old? What's happening in the West Bank is simply inexcusable. It is horrific and barbaric and it about time for our jewish friends here to acknowledge that. Tony Blinken has been publicly (and I guess privately as well) raising those ssues and calling for the Israeli government to put a stop to the harassment and abuses in the West Bank but it seems he is literally not being heard.
Why?Why? Israeli Soldiers Who Killed Jerusalem Terrorists Shoot Dead Civilian In footage of the shooting attack in a Jerusalem bus stop published on social media, Yuval Doron Kastelman is seen raising his hands and begging the Israeli soldiers not to shoot – after which he is shot and falls to the ground Nir Hasson Nov 30, 2023 9:33 pm IST The Israeli soldiers who killed two terrorists on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Thursday also shot and killed a civilian at the scene. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news...civilian/0000018c-216f-d9ef-abcd-3f6fb6a30000
https://archive.org/details/MehdiHasan_201601 Here is his apology when this audio / video surfaced. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/al-jazeera-host-apologizes-past-143453871.html BTW .. he says he was in his 20s .. but AFAIK he was 29. So technically true, but saying he was in his 20s makes it sound like he was fresh off being a teenager.
Let's be honest, a lot of people who are thought of as left-wing, (and even some who think of themselves as left-wing), are just people who want taxes to go up on the rich and that's mainly because, y'know... they're NOT rich. They're typical of a certain type of person that supports specific causes that relate to them but is quite happy to ignore other people's interests even if they're also, 'on the left'. The truth is they're obviously NOT 'on the left' in any meaningful way. Regarding other issues they might have left-wing views but they're just as likely to have right-wing views and, in some cases, quite violent right-wing views.

🧵I just witnessed ~45 minutes of footage of the October 7th terrorist attack at the @AtlanticCouncil courtesy of @IsraelinUSA along with colleagues from think tanks across the ideological spectrum. What I saw was worse than I’ve ever seen.Pure evil.***Trigger Warning***— Alex Plitsas 🇺🇸 (@alexplitsas) November 30, 2023 I don’t know if I have ever read anything as horrible as this. After watching hours of video taken by Hamas terrorists on 10/7, this is an account of what he saw.
Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you. - Friedrich W. Nietzsche Edit: It would do you a world of good to read the Ganz article too.
When you read about invoking the name of god while burning women and children, and then laughing and calling your parents to brag about what you have done, I don’t know how there could possibly be a political solution.
So all 2million Gazans must be displaced and/or die because of the actions of a few? Agreed, the perpetrators of the 7/10 need to be found and punished just as much as any SS or death-camp Nazi should. No quarter for them. But for a whole people?
It's not just the perpetrators that need to be punished, the whole system of support needs to be demolished.
Is this the only conflict that ever had this happen? Like why do conservatives act like peace has not been negotiated between rivals before. The best way is a progressive policy that avoids this situation and makes Hamas less attractive.
Presumably paywalled video about settler violence in the occupied territories including footage of a settler shooting an unarmed Palestinian - who did actually survive. https://www.nytimes.com/video/world/middleeast/100000009178151/west-bank-israel-settlers.html
I have no issues with Bibi and his ilk to also be gone, but hamas existed before Bibi, so while he's a huge impediment, he's not the ultimate deciding factor.
and they would remain even if Bibi were to be gone. Except when Hamas is finally removed can you really deal with the issue. It's time for the leftists, if they really care about Palestine, to push for Hamas to be removed if not expelled from the region. I hear Iran is a good place to send them.
