A little incoherence is better than the former policy of coherently bearhugging Netanyahu and his fellow extreme right war criminals.
The US should never just blindly support every action Israel takes (I say this being part Jewish). But this is what a lot of people can't separate. You can still support Israel's right to exist while criticizing some of their policies and actions by some of their politicians. The harassment of Jewish students, vandalizing Jewish buildings/institutions, chanting of "death to Israel", "death to America" is all uncalled for.
Other than lifting Syria sanctions (other than that Mrs. Lincoln....), he hasn't actually done anything yet.
I agree with all of this. In fact, I don't care if someone wants to yell Death to X, that is free speech. Just don't do it in front of a Hillel house.
Not everything that is legally protected by free speech is automatically seemly or appropriate though, right? Calling for death to Jews or eradication of the Israeli state is not appropriate, regardless of its technical legality.
It shouldn't be a big surprise that this is happening. For Trump, it's all about how this serves his "legacy" or in other words, his ego. He has been signaling for a long time that he wants to be known as the guy who negotiated a lasting peace. Meanwhile, Netanyahu has scads of political reasons to continue the conflict. The moment peace arrives Israelis will remember who allowed 10/7 to happen and he is out the door possibly for good and possibly facing real consequences. Besides, Trump is well known to be easily convinced by ego stroking. A plane from Qatar certainly does the trick. It also helps a lot that Bondi is an attractive blonde who just so happens to have ties to Qatar.
Difficult picture to see. She was an emaciated Boer child who was interned in a British concentration camp during the Second Boer War. The picture was taken shortly before she died.
Here is how the israeli regime operates. Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/2EWr9yCEnrY?si=NlOyr2bS4FYtl9YA Article: https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-...n-killed-and-dozens-injured-israeli-raid-west These israeli scum are on occupied Palestinian land in Nablus. Rami al-Kakhn is standing around chatting with a friend when the israeli regime’s assassins, not wearing uniforms and disguised in Muslim civilian clothes, shoot and kill him without any warning. They actually kill him when he has his hands up in a sitting position. He was absolutely no threat to anyone when he was executed. They then keep his body - I am not sure it has been returned yet. This is business as usual and standard operating procedure by the israeli regime. Nothing will happen to these murderers because they are fully backed by the state. They are a disgrace and the sooner their state ends, the better.
They also had a sniper shoot the only eyewitness to the paramedic massacre the other day. In the head. The eyewitness was a 12 year old boy.
Interesting that Trump isn’t scheduled to meet with Bibi on this trip. Suggests a growing rift between the two leaders.
Here is how Palestinian regime operates. Without any warning, these Palestinian scum just shoot at random cars and people passing by. But nobody really ever talks about these events b/c it's business as usual. I do wonder if they will be brought to justice.... Earlier today, a pregnant woman was shot and later pronounced dead. https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-854007#google_vignette A pregnant woman wounded in a terror attack in the West Bank on Wednesday night has since passed from her injuries, Israeli media reported on Thursday morning. The victim was later identified as Tzeela Gez, who was reportedly on her way to deliver her fourth child. The terrorists opened fire from a passing vehicle, initially at three cars, and one of them was hit, injuring the two civilians inside.
https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20250515-five-palestinians-killed-in-israeli-raid-in-west-bank Almost 1,000 Palestinians killed in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza Genocide. Five killed just today. Israel's military in January launched an ongoing, large-scale operation in the West Bank that has displaced at least 38,000 people, according to the United Nations. The operation, which Israel says aims to eradicate Palestinian armed groups, has primarily targeted refugee camps in the northern West Bank -- where Tammun is located. Israeli troops and settlers have killed at least 934 Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war, according to health ministry figures. Palestinian attacks and clashes during military raids have killed at least 34 Israelis, including soldiers, over the same period, according to Israeli figures. Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967, and Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territory are considered illegal under international law.
Yeah, but in israeli logic 34 > 934. The israelis in their minds are the victims not the perpetrators, and no amount of data or facts will get past that worldview.
Cut yasik a little slack - he's the only pro-Israel poster here who's shown the ability to see Palestinians as people.
I think the 38,000 people displaced is an important number as well. How many Israeli's have Palestinians displaced over the decades? How many Israelis have been displaced by Palestinians over the decades?
Municipality expects another demonstration in Katwijk on Saturday In Katwijk, people want to demonstrate on Saturday evening "against a possible pro-Palestine demonstration", reports the municipality. It takes into account "a large group" of people. Domestic editors Earlier this week, hundreds of people disrupted a pro-Palestinian protest in the South Holland town. The protesters were attacked and mistreated. People threw stones and beer bottles at the protesters and the police. Two people were arrested. Two residents of Katwijk have registered a demonstration for Saturday at 7.30 pm, reports the municipality. That has designated the Strandplein in Katwijk aan Zee as a place to demonstrate. The protesters actually wanted to stand in a different place, but according to the municipality, this location offers more space and allows for better supervision.
What's sad and telling about this story-- the celebrations accompanying the murder of this pregnant mother: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/15/world/middleeast/west-bank-shooting-pregnant-woman.html Whatever you can say about Israel, you will never hear Israelis rejoicing over the death of innocent Palestinians. Every death is a tragedy. It's unfortunate that Palestinian leaders don't agree, given how easily they could end this war and save the lives of their people.
What is sad and telling is your complete disregard for lethal settler violence in the West Bank against Palestinian civilians. If one were to believe you, those settlers consistently beleieve every Palestinian they kill is a tragedy.
Where did I say that? I understand that it fits your narrative to vilify me, but I feel for all the innocents who have suffered because of the conflicts and wars. The fact remains: the Palestinians celebrated the murder of this mother. Please find a comparable example of Israeli leaders rejoicing over the deaths of innocent Palestinians. You can't because it never happens!
Oh so now you've moved the goalposts from "Israelis" to "Israeli leaders". This is what you wrote: "you will never hear Israelis rejoicing over the death of innocent Palestinians." You are in complete denial as to the behavior of some "settlers" in the occupied territories.
I don't like the behavior of many settlers, but that still doesn't change the fact I stated. I realize it's hard for ProPals to acknowledge!
