It's a stupid argument because, even if true, all it proves is that the children in question weren't shot from close range. It doesn't address anything else of substance in the NYT piece, which is based on testimony from American doctors that risked life and limb to travel to Gaza and treat people there.
Short range or long range, those “CT” scans don’t account for entry or exit wounds, cavitation/tissue damage… There is no scientific way a round from a 556mm at any velocity could enter a human skull with doing no visible damage. You bought into bullshit, just admit it.
I sincerely hope this is a load of crap or some sort of political ploy. There's just no way (at least I can't believe it) that Israel wants to resettle Gaza.
You're proving my point. You're zeroing in on three photographs in a long article documenting Israeli conduct that's a level of horror that everyone should be condemning. And even then, the NYT has come out and said "we've got more photographs like this and they corroborate what we published."
I have no idea who is right or wrong in this debate but the head trauma surgeon seems to be saying that this is explained by survivor bias i.e. if you get shot in the head and live long enough to be operated on, the bullet has low deformity, no exit, cavitation etc - because if those things happen, you die. So you would think other surgeons in the US could easily be able to verify or debunk this statement below?
Then the onus is on the Times to put up or shut up. Stating after getting called out on their evidence that they have more is not a good look. Not stating it up front is shady. I’m sure they have forensic evidence to substantiate their claims right? I know you were dismissive of forensic evidence earlier so…
This is a key point, but not the key point (which is the bad faith inherent in these criticisms - the hasbara brigades go out of their way to attack any critic of Israel). That appears to be part of what the NYT did as part of its fact checking: "Times Opinion rigorously edited this guest essay before publication, verifying the accounts and imagery through supporting photographic and video evidence and file metadata. We also vetted the doctors and nurses’ credentials, including that they had traveled to and worked in Gaza as claimed. When questions arose about the veracity of images included in the essay, we did additional work to review our previous findings. We presented the scans to a new round of multiple, independent experts in gunshot wounds, radiology and pediatric trauma, who attested to the images’ credibility. In addition, we again examined the images’ digital metadata and compared the images to video footage of their corresponding CT scans as well as photographs of the wounds of the three young children. While our editors have photographs to corroborate the CT scan images, because of their graphic nature, we decided these photos — of children with gunshot wounds to the head or neck — were too horrific for publication. We made a similar decision for the additional 40-plus photographs and videos supplied by the doctors and nurses surveyed that depicted young children with similar gunshot wounds. We stand behind this essay and the research underpinning it. Any implication that its images are fabricated is simply false."

I’m not sure about “Israel,” but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if there was a sizable number of Israelis who would love to claim that land.
You wouldn't believe the number of people I've had to correct on this platform that believe, with their whole 7th grade understanding of physics, that stadium roofs do not amplify crowd noise to a degree that the human ear can detect... The Death of Expertise will put us in a 2nd Dark Age Because there isn't much there as the NYT has ceased to have any standards Personally, I'd rather American Soldiers be there, daring Hamas and the IDF to point weapons at them - I have come to believe that there will be no Peace in Israel, Gaza and Lebanon unless it is forced upon all parties down the barrell of an M4 Carbine They say the truth is the first casuality in war, and both sides have been raping that corpse for a bit, thanks to social media. Doesn't even have to be "sizeable", just wealthy and powerful enough This
Jews have the power to manipulate hurricanes, causing them to magnify in intensity and destroy targeted areas, doing billions of dollars of damage and killing scores of people. Lodging a bullet in a child's brain is trivial compared to that.
Today I learned that overwhelming evidence including numerous photographs and testimony of dozens of people is somehow the same as racist conspiracy theories Some people are intent on emulating ostriches.
Reports circulating that Sinwar is dead, eliminated in an IDF strike 2-3 hours ago. Normally, those are to be taken with several pinches of salt but there are photos of the scene circulating with what are claimed to be close-ups of his face. They match previous photos very closely. They're probably NSFW but they can be seen down below in the replies to this IDF post. 1846897213001056332 is not a valid tweet id
It's being reported by mainstream outlets now, so there's a decent chance of it being true. If it is - a big if - the blow to morale as well as to the command and control system will be considerable. This entire war was very much the brainchild of him and Deif, and his fanaticism and ruthlessness kept any doubters in line. War-weariness is evident in Hamas, so everyone will be looking for pragmatists in the higher ranks to try to wrest control from the bitter-enders and strike a deal but even if it does happen, there'll be a significant amount of confusion before it does
The IDF claim to have taken the body for DNA & fingerprint analysis. so we can expect official confirmation of his death pretty soon. They would have to have had extraordinary confidence in their targeting to have launched an operation, never mind one which assumed the risks involved in retrieving the body.
Even if Sinwar wasn't there, Israel had to have either recruited a mole from his inner circle or received a tip-off from a very senior figure to have launched this type of operation. A tip-off would be extremely significant. It would require very senior people to a) have given up on Sinwar's "unity of the fronts" strategy and want to stop, for now at least, and b) be desperate enough militarily* to risk the consequences of detection. * assuming the desperation didn't stem from blackmail or bribery.
