Well he's wrong. Those pagers weren't issued to the rank and file fighters, let alone party officials. This was supposed to their key C3 system. Any half-serious organization - land Hezbollah are very serious - will restrict equipment that important to senior officers (Lt. Colonel), the top brass, key technical staff (a major in the rockets, say) and key liaisons to the political side. Anything else is OPSEC insanity. Apparently even Lt. Colonel equivalents weren't guaranteed to get one. Anyone with one of those pagers was a combatant, likely a senior one at that.
Which is why four deaths were of health workers and two were children. So six out of twelve deaths had nothing to do with anything. Death toll from Hezbollah pager explosions in Lebanon rises to 12 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2kn10xxldo Look up “signature strikes” in the Afghanistan threads. I have been absolutely consistent on these types of attacks.
Maths was never my strong suit but I think these death notices issued by Hezbollah for their uniformed fighters, when counted, amount to 10. YMMV
Bibi is probably chomping at the bit for a direct confrontation with Iran, before they have nukes, but I doubt if he has much support for that. Iran, on the other hand, is probably more likely to reign in its proxies rather than risk a full-scale war, at this point. Khamenei has been winning the long game, he knows he's currently out matched, he can keep arming his proxy militias, let them do his fighting and wait until he has a stronger hand.
See link I posted: So not yet confirmed as dead due to the pagers. (It is a likelihood, I accept.) What we do have at present is the statement from the Lebanon Health Minister who says of twelve confirmed deaths, four were health workers and two were children. What military rank were the health workers and children - at least Lt Colonels I presume? These are pure signature strikes, about as discriminate between combatants and non-combatants as blowing up a bus of working-age people in the middle of israel.
From Hamas' Telegram account. Translation is an art rather than a science but the ones I've seen of the underlined sections are variations of “Around 3.30 pm on Tuesday 9/17 a number of message-receiving devices known as ‘pagers’ belonging to a number of staffers in various Hezbollah units and formations exploded”
Over 4000 people were injured and there were several thousand such explosions. It seems unlikely that Hezbollah has even 1000 commanders.
Do you support Hezbollah? Seems like you might be sympathetic to these terrorists. Hezbollah is terrible for Lebanon. All Hezbollah is doing is providing IDF with justification for a ground invasion and how does that help Lebanon?
Why do you think the idf/mossad cares about if the pagers are solely used by hezbolls? They don't care to bomb a declared safe zone with a bomb of a size we here in Rotterdam end May evacuated a whole neighbourhood with a radius of over two hundred meters around it: They don't even take into consideration if those pagers are solely combattants or could end up in the hands of innocent people. These to them are just like the children and babies collateral damage, not worth to even contemplate. So this whole discussion about who or what is futile, because it's not part of the way the idf/mossad thinks. As Moishe pointed at, it simply is/can be part of the strategy to cause despair under non combattants, like the killing of medics.
Total and that's only sometime after the 1st wave. I havent seen numbers after the second wave. I don't get what all of this will benefit Israel other than provoking a regional war in the hopes of dragging the US in. How's any of this serves the best interests of Israeli? This will definitely damage further their international reputation. Hard to pass yourself as "the good guys" when you double down using the same terror tactics that you accuse you enemies of doing and becoming them
The benefits are obvious, fewer terrorists to attack them, their communications are in disarray, I'd imagine this is pretty demoralizing for Hezbollah...might make recruitment more difficult, and lessen their stature in Lebanon... ...and if you think Israel is worried about their international reputation and looking like the good guys, you haven't been paying attention to the war in Gaza. Bibi is pressing ahead with war, Israel will worry about reputation building later.
Nobody has ever seen an attack quite like this. It was a blow to Hezbollah. Might not slow them down much, long term, but it might weaken them ahead of the next phase. IDF is coming, and a ground war looks inevitable, Bibi vowed today to make sure that displaced Israelis will be able to return home, safely.
https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-820642 Staff-Sergeant Agam Naim becomes first female IDF soldier to fall in Gaza combat IDF St.-Sgt. Agam Naim became the first female IDF soldier to fall in combat in the Gaza Strip after she, along with three other soldiers, was killed in a building explosion on Tuesday. Naim was a 20-year-old paramedic from Kibbutz Mishmarot. On Thursday, she was supposed to complete six months of service in Gaza, go on regular leave, and begin instructing a paramedics course at Bahad 10, the medical corps school.

Seems Orban is complicit in the pager operation. That's going to be interesting to see what consequences that will have for the safety of Hungarians.
Unsurprisingly, Hezbollah have appointed a new head of communications this morning. A photo of him on his first day at work has been released
They are strongly Protestant https://theconversation.com/more-th...support-comes-from-the-pacific-islands-221212
If 10/7 was "targeted" then why attack all those left-leaning kibbutzim? The Israeli anti-Zionist left is essentially crippled since those attacks. It all reeks of indiscriminate slaughter. They just went and hit every Israeli as close as possible to the border.
As far as the pager attacks go. It is quite literally the most precise attack I have ever heard of. The pagers functioned correctly and had no issues at all until triggered. The ones that exploded were triggered by a very specific call to the number. It's reasonable to assume that if the pager exploded it was because the IDF believed that the person with that number was a legitimate target. Against the rules of war? Maybe, but it really is the most humane and precise attack I have ever heard of.
It's precise in terms of its execution. In terms collateral damage that's a different story. In general terms, you're still setting off explosives in civilian areas in non-combat zones.
Yeah, so why IS Hezbollah in Lebanon? This is the entire crux of it. Israel and Lebanon have no major land disputes. There is no reason for Hezbollah to be bombing and displacing Israeli civilians. They did so at the behest of Iran and now are paying the price for it. I hope they make the right choice. https://t.co/vlmGuGh5CR— Alex גדעון בן װעלװל (@JewishWonk) September 19, 2024
