By some people’s reasoning here, it is OK to put explosives into items likely to be used by israelis aged between 18 and 40.
So far I've seen 2800 injured - 200 critical but that was as of yesterday. But with more different type of devices exploding today all over Beirut - this will go way up I would think. Also, I'm seeing Iphones are exploding too - Business is about to get very good for Huawei
What makes you think Israel couldn't have hijacked Huawei phones the same way, if that's what Hezbollah was using?
How do you propose Israel goes about getting Hezbollah north of the Litani River, a Lebanese army or some useful (not what we had with UN) international forces on the border, and a return of 70k Israeli citizens back to their homes? Because believe you me, I want no part of Lebanon war and I want Israelis and Lebanese to just go about their daily lives.
So far, seems to be western electronics blowing up which makes sense since the access to those devices would be much easier. This will severely affect consumer's trust towards western brands around the world. You can also expect the security of the supply chains say from China to be drastically reviewed and increased. Just like that, this little stunt is throwing a few businesses under the bus and the likes of Huawei stand to massively benefit
Are pagers big in the 18-40 demo or something? Do they even have snake? Listen this stuff is easy. Hezbollah most likely bought the pagers from a Mossad shell company. Considering what happened today intercepting stuff and rigging them seems very unlikely so they came like this from the "factory" So Hezbollah bought some stuff (use code M0$$ad for 20% off) and they gave it to their members and trusted friends like the Iranian ambassador. Hence whatever collateral happened that is due to Hezbollah. But you wouldn't be you without finding excuses for another terrorist organization
And there we go, you keep showing your limited ability for critical thinking. If the Iphone thing is true, this will hurt Apple around the world and benefit Huawei - that's just fact. Stop living like this is the 90s and buying American is the only option
Yeah, let's not pretend you care about Apple or whoever. You just want to cheer for anyone other than Western countries, no matter how odious. Your motivations are crystal clear. It's good that you're finding a silver lining in what happened to your homies in Hezbollah.
I highly doubt the sales of iPhones will be impacted. You underestimated the hungry consumer mentality of people worldwide.
Only one of us is in favour of putting explosives into thousands of communication devices and blowing them all up at the same time.
Big fan honestly. Booby traps has even boobs in it If that same would happen to HAMAS and like minded organizations you seem to be fond of it would be great
lol - What are you - 10? You're forgetting that trade tension had a huge effect on their sales in China - let alone security concerns in countries outside the west following western devices exploding all over Lebanon. You can bet they will use this to make the case to buy Chinese instead
The saltiness of some of the posters on here over this event is just hilarious. It's even better on places like Twitter, where the conspiracy theories are already flying.
Not celebrating civilians getting their body limbs blown up - how dare I. Like I said, your "tone" is very racist
The UN General Assembly calls on Israel to end its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory within a year.
Who's celebrating this? Pretty sure everyone who's expressed some relief were thinking of Hezbollah operatives and soldiers. Literally nobody here said they are happy civilians got hit.
That is a good question, and I want to be thoughtful in my answer as I can. I actually dont have a good answer to that. I didnt say I had the solution. But Im going add to that couple of counter questions and thoughts. Is getting Hezbollah north to the Litani river an attainable goal? Maybe. But at a significant cost. And again, no guarantee it would achieve it. I would say its doubtful Israel could maintain an occupation there (which is what would be required) in the long term. It would be a Vietnam style war, similar to what you have in Gaza but at a scale several times higher. Can Israel go back to the previous status, where Hezbollah controls the area? Hezbollah is not an existensial threat. It is however a strategic one, and strategic problems have solutions. But such a solution would entail Israel agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza, and then diplomatically end the spat with Hezbollah and re-entering a "cold peace" that we had prior to October 7th. I recognize however that in of itself would be fundemantally go against Israeli military doctrine of deterrence supremacy, and would bleed Israel of its deterrence. Here's the thing though. Israel deterrence is already bleeding in what has now clearly become a "forever war" or a war of attrition, as Israel finds itself in an increasingly difficult political (and strategic) environment for each day this war passes without Israel reaching its goals. This goes to what I said earlier. Israel excels in short high intensity wars against conventional state armies. But thats not the kind of war Israel is fighting. Its fighting against an enemy, comprising of several non-state actors, that employs assymetrical tactics and fighting the war on a low-scale that bleeds Israel over time. And unfortunately Israel has gotten stuck in a trap. We're now almost a year into Gaza conflict, and there is nothing to show for it. None of the objectives have been achieved. Which leads me to my final question. Is the current Israeli military doctrine of absolute deterrence supremacy and dominance sustainable, in light of the fact that you have an Israeli occupation of the West Bank and siege of Gaza, which will inevitably lead to more intifadas and horrific attacks? An occupation which in of itself is corroding the very fabric of Israeli society all the way to the top to the leadership, that has led to the election of messianic doomsday believers like Smothrich and Gvir taking high political positions. Believe me, this is going to boomerack back Israeli citizens themselves. I can esaily see a future scenario where Ben Gvirs militia and police employ suppression tactics on Israeli citizens, that West Bank Palestinians suffers. Sorry that was a long answer, and not everything was directly an answer to your original question. But everything is connected, and I like to think of the big picture.
You seem to be implying that all those devices were randomly distributed. If Iran/Hamas/hezbollah or whatever can infiltrate the IDF in the same manner and targeted mainly soldiers I would have more respect for them. But October 7 showed otherwise. And I dislike Israel's policies regarding its neighborgs, and how they have been behaving in gaza/west bank.
I notice that half of the against votes are from Pacific countries. Wonder what the explanation of that concentration is.
