That that's not what he was saying.

I don't see how it's paying off for anyone.

Good lord man, read what you're writing. You write about Democracy being on the line, do you not realize what's going on here?

Is Gaza that important to you, that critical to you that you think the risks we face domestically is less important? Are you that devout about it that you don't care that if Trump wins, there's a possibility that abortion will be illegal federally (Which means women facing complications or worse, death), that minorities, be it race or sexual identity face persecution and possibly worse?

That's fine that you care about Gaza, but priorities. And saying you care more about Gaza than what could impact you (plus friends and family) is remarkable and just tells me that you're not serious.

On the Palestine side, one of the reasons I've always kept a distance is that they're so fanatical about it that to them, even showing nuance means showing weakness. It's like the worst aspects of Maoism. That some, like Rashida Tlaib are willing to cut their noses off to spite their faces over it, just tells me everything I need to know.

Palestine is gaining international recognition, Israel’s international reputation is in tatters, and antisemitism is on the rise. All of which is in line with the goals of Hamas.

The issue with this position, which a number of posters here have taken, is that quite a few scholars of genocide disagree with it.

    https://contendingmodernities.nd.edu/global-currents/statement-of-scholars-7-october/#

To be fair, some genocide scholars disagree.

However, that genocide scholars disagree on whether Israel's actions constitute genocide means that Israel's actions have been a level of horror that our government shouldn't be funding, defending, and enabling.

As far as Palestinians in public view go, Rashida Tlaib is pretty damn reasonable. One's humanity isn't something that's negotiable.

Tlaib would be easier to take seriously if she wasn't screaming about not voting or endorsing Biden in 2020 and this year. She did the same thing with Hillary in 2016. If it wasn't Palestine, it'd be something else.

When I vote, I cast it in part as an American citizen, and in part as a world citizen. I think Bootsy is doing the same thing, just with a different mix than me. And you too. I don’t think that makes him wrong, it’s just him having a different perspective on what his vote means. If genocide is on the ballot, he’s going to vote mostly as a world citizen.

This is sobering reading, but FWIW they are arguing that action is needed now to prevent a genocide from happening; not that one is already in progress.

Which I think is fair. While I continue to maintain that Israel is not currently carrying out a genocide, nor are they enacting a coherent plan to do so, there's a threshold they are edging towards. There's a real danger they could stumble into becoming the very monster they deny being. Which would be tragic in many, many ways.

  11. The quest by Norway to help the ending of the killings started about 30 years ago by the secret negotiations of Israel/Rabin and PA/Arafat.
It's not a response to this battle. It's a response to the stalling by Israel of the two state solution and the hand in hand going settlers depopulating Palestine territory.

I can count on my middle fingers the number of lefties on BS I’d trust not to turn me over to the nazis.

But I’m not so stupid I’d not vote against Trump. And I’m probably a 1%er and, apparently, white.

    Enjoy your cosplay, dumbshits.

I get it, but this forum isn’t algorithm driven.

I guess a lot of people believe their social media, but in that case, I wonder what they’re doing here. Because their bullshit gets called out.

If you think the people calling you out are operating under a false worldview then it’s probably not gonna hold much sway. I mean look at marek, he seems to come away from every interaction with the assumption that he’s just calling out the bullshit of the liberal BS hive mind.

This overstates things: most social media algorithms are weighted towards engagement, and people routinely “hate click” content.

I had the same thought, recently my Facebook feed has been a lot of moronic right wing posts (many of them fake) that I’ve obviously clicked on way too many times to read the comments if they’re showing up for me like that.

I get your laughter…but to me, the Palestinian people are the most friendless* people in the world. It’s just tragic. I fully understand their desperation.

*I mean real friends. The Palestinian people are like someone with an incredibly popular Facebook page but no friends in real life. Nobody to help them move, or share a cry with. At least Jews have Israel, the US, and possibly Britain.

That would be torture. Of course Palestinian knafeh is by far superior to the Israeli version but aside from that…I’ll fight you on this.

You and a lot of others aren't going to like this, but to me, the Palestine movement comes across (AGAIN: To me) as a cover for a lot of people to indulge their worst habits. And given that a lot of its supporters don't disavow the extremists or the rhetoric that gets involved, it's hard to take that seriously. I'm all for a two state solution, but the fact that there are Arab-Americans thumbing their noses at Biden while ignoring what happened on October 7, is revealing. That, and it's also telling that Palestine has rejected every peace proposal put on the table. Then there's the hard leftists who just have to be noble because reasons. And finally, there's Hamas, which most people on this thread and elsewhere downplay.

As for the Arab Americans in the article, they DO want to indulge their worst habits. I've said before that the mayor of Hamtramck* is palling around with Michael Flynn and is also a raging homophobe. Moms for Liberty was making inroads in Dearborn last year. And I doubt those folks are from Palestine, but Lebanon, Syria, maybe Iraq.

So when I see an article like that, I'm going to laugh my ass off about it. Like what did they expect? They're pretty much telling them in And Trump's people promising to not do a Muslim ban is just this meme. And this is not the first time they had to go through this. They may be social conservatives, but they don't seem to get no matter how socially conservative they are, Trump and the Republican party hate them. And the Republican Party make no effort to hide that fact.

*: You should see what one of his appointees said about the Holocaust. Hoo boy. Or maybe about how thin skinned he is.
