from soccernet Liverpool are waiting to discover how long midfielder Dietmar Hamann will be out after he picked up a shin injury in the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland. The German international came off at half-time and manager Gerard Houllier said that John Arne Riise came on because Hamann was injured. 'It wasn't a tactical decision at all. Didi came off because he was injured. He took a knock on his shin and wasn't able to go on,' he told the club's official website. And Houllier added that skipper Sami Hyypia, omitted from the 16 at the Stadium of Light, was rested not dropped.
It's been my belief that Hamann and Hyypia have been carrying minor injuries all year, which is why they're not playing as well as usual. Sit both of them down for as long as it takes to get them back to their usual wonderful self.
