Indeed, the first one was the bomb, and my friends and I still play it as much as we can. But to say that Halo 2 will fail to live up to the expectations doesn't seem too fair. 1) Since it's the holiday season, tons of copies will be sold (I'd be so bold to guess about 3 or 4 million); 2) after 3 years of waiting and playing, you don't think people will flock to the new game?; 3) They found some of the flaws of the last game (no plasma sword usage; only one gun at once; facility of being run over by a moving vehicle, which in some cases, cannot be destroyed; slow needler rounds, etc.) and corrected almost all of them - rockets can track now, too; 4) MULTIPLAYER, the selling point of the first game, is even better in this one. You can fight against CPU-controlled players, do multiplayer mission games (like Unreal Tournament) against or as the Covenant, and a whole lot more.

Plus the makers of the XBox said that they've basically squeezed out all of the juice that the XBox can handle to create this game, so the graphics, animation, sound quality, and overall look and feel to the game should be mind-blowing. My buddies and I can't wait... in fact, I'm going into the city on Wednesday to pre-order a copy for us.

I was told by a local EB guy that it might be best to pre-order this game because they're anticipating a shortage. Apparantly the makers will not be able to produce enough copies in time to meet demands. Time will tell.

I don't think Halo 2 will fail because a lot of players may be getting it primarily for online play, although single-player action looks kick-ass too.

Anybody who thinks this game is going to fail is a nutcase.

I've had mine pre-ordered from Amazon for about the last six months.

Halo 2 is almost a guaranteed blockbuster title. You know what you're getting, and then some. The developers are still making many of the aspects of the game a secret.

Just put in my reserve for Nov. 9th. I won't be one of those crazy fanboys that will buy the game at the stroke of midnight. I heard that there have about 1.5 million pre-orders in the US.

Yeah there are, and the game is less than 6 days away. BTW, the game was actually leaked.

I guess it so because on another board, a poster said that people in his dorm were already playing it. For shame.

the leaked halo 2 has no online play and everything is in french.... u would need a modded xbox to play it too.... i dont think it is worth it, ill just wait for the legal version to come out... this will be the best game ever.

Attempting to get the leaked version now would be worthless, eventhough an English-US version is leaked I believe. its' but 4 days away. People have waited 3 years..what's 4 more days? Hell, Red Sox fans have no excuse.

My friends are going insane just waiting for it. I am not as excited because I don't own an Xbox. But my friends are in a Halo craze now...

I've actually been playing the leaked French copy for a couple of weeks now. The gameplay is pretty much the same, but online is much better.

I just got the latest copy of "Official XBox Magazine" and they give it 9.7 out of 10.0 possible points in their review. I think that might be the highest ever rating the magazine gave a game.

Yeah, dont get me wrong, it is a good game and pretty fun to play. However, I don't think that there is any way that the makers could have created a game that could possibly live up to the hype that it has received.

abou 3 years wait for me. No frenchman is going to spoil my fun. I saw some footage of the multiplayer and nearly crapped my pants. Can't wait!

It's hard to believe the hacked French version is as good as the original, what with Le Master Chief dropping his weapons and running away.

It does not. What makes Halo HALO is its replayability. The storyline was excellent in the first one and I've heard that its also very good in the sequel if a little shorter than expected. However, HALO was, is and will always be about sniping someone when only a fraction of their helmet is visable, sticking someone while dropping down from a floor above, perfectly timing a rocket launcher, rolling on someone with a shot gun and now dualweilding with anything you want and destroying your opponent. In essence - the multiple ways of killing and dieing is what makes Halo what it is.

I go to a college where there were about 7 elite HALO players and mabye 7 good ones and alot of crappy players. Playing against 3 great players is nice, but playing against 6 on 6 CTF or TeamSlayer is just insane.

I agree that perhaps its not as good as it is hyped - however, few people that shell out the cheese for this game will be disappointed.

One of the reasons I love this game is the strategy that it requires... sure you can play just to have fun, but there are so many styles of play available to you. Playing cautious, being gung ho or playing for fun. For example one of my friends might have played Halo multiplayer games (with no shields) going up to 25 without shooting more than 12 shots and relying simply on the B button and grenades. Or you get a lead and tell your opponents you are going to sticky them to win or use only melee attacks from that point forward.

Same here. I like it more than Halo because the weapons in multiplayer are far more balanced. No more are the days of being 3 shot killed with pistols. Now, you have to be a little more strategic in your approach, perhaps selecting the best possible combination to duel wield. Double needlers, Smg-plasma, and double pistol all rape (for lack of a better word). I think the new multiplayer levels are fun, but they could have done more in my opinion. They really improved blood gulch. Overall, I like Halo 2 a lot more, but there are many who disagree with me around here and will only play Halo. Such is life.

Jawz, lemme ask..the people who Like Halo 1 better than 2. Were they Really good at Halo 1? And now that Halo 2 is out, they must adjust their strategies and tactics to the point that they are not as good as they used to Be?

I noticed this issue amongst people who went from Goldeneye to Perfect Dark.

I just bought a xbox today and ordered my copy of Halo 2 on ebay. I used to play 8 on 8 Halo with my friends twice a week in high school and it kicked ass. As much as I love the multiplayer on Halo I'm not sure if I'll get xbox live because I'm sure there will be tons of nerds who will play it all day who wouldn't be any fun to play with/against, I just think live could fill up with douchers who camp or are the Halo 2 version of the guy who would just hide and 3 head shot people with the pistol in Halo instead of making insane runs at the flag by driving the warthog inside the enemy base.
