News on the broadcast is that Reading made a bid to Arsenal for midfielder Steve Sidwell (at Brighton now), and that they're talking personal terms.
0-1, Walsall, after 8'. Wreck with a header after Hahnemann was unable to get enough on a clearance of a cross.
HT. Last 10-15 minutes, Reading really poured it on, and came close to getting a couple more before the break.
Sorry, very busy. Into the second half of extra time. Still 1-1. Reading has had the majority of chances, but hasn't taken any of them.
Butler for Reading goes wide. 2-0, Walsall. Hahnemann gets a piece, but only to put it into the roof. Cureton scores. 2-1, Walsall.
Jamaican Fitzroy Simpson, 3-1 Walsall. Harper for Reading...saved by Walker for Walsall. Walsall can win with the next PK...
Game was a pile of cack. Not the most incisive of match reports, but the truth. Hate to say it, but marcus completely at fault for the first goal. Rushed of his line to the edge of the box (side edge, not front) to try and claim a ball he shouldn't have gone for, but could only palm it forwards into the path of a walsall player who knocked in a simple cross - 1-0.
Judging by commentary Saturday, that's two games in a row where he's failed to be impressive, to be kind.
Seeing Pardew leave the field in such a happy state _ throwing things, cursing _ wondering if Marcus might be in for spell of sitting. NOt saying this game was his fault _ hey, we needed an og to score _ but the announcers are saying things like, ``only a few chances, and did nothing with those...'' What is the mood, is the bloom off the rose?
It might have been his mistake that caused Walsall's goal but nobody is really heaping any blame on him. It was more of an error of judgement, rather than dropping an easy catch or letting a soft shot through his arms. Reading's failings were somewhat further forward. That and an apparent lack of effort.
