Great stuff from Hector Herrera.

 

Since he's been in Europe I always thought he muscled up nicely, not the kind to get pushed off the ball so easy.

 

I was at the game with a great view and I can objectively say he was fine even if a bit underwhelming.

I can also objectively say that he was fine because Simeone literally changed the front six all at once when Herrera came in.

I can also also objectively say that he and Llorente compliment each other quite well and will push Koke and Niguez for minutes.

I can also also also just echo what Simeone said and that is that Herrera is adapting quite well which is important since he literally just started practicing with the squad a few weeks ago.

 

He's gotten more sluggish with his quickness over the years it seems. But was he ever quick?

HH puede hacer de director o de mecanismo de presión, algo al alcance de poquísimos centrocampistas en el mundo. Lo primero lo perfeccionó con Osorio, lo segundo con Conceiçao. Además, tiene agilidad en conducción. Sin ser el mejor en algo, es bueno en varias facetas.

Y esto es oro para el Cholo. HH seguramente no sea titular, en un principio, por tanta competencia (Koke, Saúl, Llorente, Thomas) pero sin duda será importante como un “comodín”. El mexicano es útil en varios sistemas-esquemas y posiciones. Refuerzo tremendo a coste 0 para el ATM
