first reports coming out of England state that Guzano did not get a work permit.

Looks like Guzano is staying with Chivas a bit longer!

I have been reading differet articles regarding the work permit situation, but since I really don't know a lot about it, and don't know what to believe or not, I have a couple of questions:
Can he appeal? How long is the appeal process? Since it is the last day of the transfer window, is it too late to appeal? Can Aston Villa purchase Guzano and loan him back to Chivas USA? Can he still try and go to Celtic?

I would much rather have Guzano stay than go to Celtic, since the amount they want to purchase him for is too low. It will also give Chivas USA tme to get a GK to back him up and start developing so Guzano can leave during the summer or next winter tranfer.:D

shame they left it to late - if they had done this at start of the transfer window I have no doubt he would have got a permit on appeal. (via the high talent ruling) after all he has already played for a strong national team at a very young age. Good for Chivas tho.

BTW he won't get a permit for Celtic either as the rules are same throughout U.K.

I think Villa has something like less than 6 hours to appeal
so chances of that happening are very unlikely

terrible news for Guzan. I know that he has put in the time and effort.
I know his time will come.

Kinda good news for us although I hate the circumstance.

Although I like the idea of Aston Villa buying and then loaning him to Chivas USA. That would be too good to be true.

Its scary that just knowing that Guzan is returning makes nest season's chances a little brighter! It makes a HUGE difference having him at goal.

    Let the season begin!

This is a blessing in disguise. We never had a plan B. His contract ends at the end of the season, he's leaving and he's leaving in the summer. MLS will get some money out of this.

I not sure what to think at the moment. I hope this doesn't affect him mentally. I don't think it will.

We might not be able to pay for more quality players, however. I'm thinking that CUSA was depending on that money to sign players, "quality" players.

    Welcome back, Brad. For, now.

They have said they will try to appeal TODAY. it could still happen today.
Ina perfect world Vills signs him and loans him back to Chivas until June 1st.

as ELAC pointed out its give the FO a chance to come up with a plan B(burpo) or C, Which they didn't have 10 days ago.

I feel real bad for Brad it has to be an emotional rollercoaster for him right now but in the end he will get what he has earned.

Looks like Villa has given up on Guzan, they don't even mentioned an appeal.

It sucks for Guzan, but at the same time, I am glad he will be back with Chivas for 2008.

what everyone's forgetting to mention is that brad only has one year left on his CUSA contract- meaning that we have 2 options now:
    1. let him go during the summer transfer window (during an important part of our season) in return for a hefty transfer fee.
    2. let him go during the winter transfer window (officially no longer the property of CUSA- meaning that we wont get SQUAT for him since he'll be a free agent and can move via free transfer)

this was both bad for Brad and CUSA. (well not entirely bad for guzan since he gets to look forward to a larger offer later on).

Actually, I did mention that the contract expires after the season. He is leaving and it will be in the summer. THe MLS will push it. I'm not sure, but I think CUSA will have a plan B by then.

Maybe Percovich can lace 'em up.

We will get something for Guzan. The FO ain't that dumb.

    I think.

Where is all the money going now? We have the lowest paid roster, we have decent merchandise sales and we even have some sponsor $$. But where is it going? I hope that at the very least the guys all get s raise. (why would Cue pay more than he really has to?)

    Just wondering!

Wow, big news for you guys. I was excited to see what he could do in Europe, but now I have to dread his presence against us.

These are all good questions, which we don't seem to have answers for yet. I'll bet he ends up starting the season with us, and goes in the summer transfer period.

    no i haven't
that is the only blog that mentions that. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they compensate Guzano in order to keep him to a contract with the idea to get something in return when he does get his permit.
