Arsenal vs. Wigan midweek is going to be huge. Wigan have their fate in their own hand now, and if they can somehow get a win at the Emirates, then that final game will be HUGE against a Benteke-less Villa... however, I don't see lightening striking twice, and Villa getting a win at the Emirates...

You know that is what I noticed about Lichaj's play, he works hard, he does the things he has to do but then makes a bad decision at the wrong time.

He did get sucked inside but once the ball was sent wide he and the right mid went for the same man, no problem so far, the problem was once the opponent made a move to the middle, Lichaj should have released and cover the angle on the wide attacker that was lurking, after all, his teammate had the attacking player covered. That one second that he didn't release the attacker that had the ball made the pass to the player that Lichaj was suppose to be covering. cross was made. goal.

Yup Lichaj has the tools and if his job is to mark a winger in a 4-4-2 he usually does well. When he is against a more fluid team that moves its attackers around like Chelsea this year or Man City he often struggles to be in the right position. That said he was pretty decent today and Chelsea put some good passes together on that 2nd goal though Lichaj could have done better.

Villa failed completely to clear the ball from their own end, and it just seemed like it was written-in-stone that Chelsea would get the game-winner.

I just don't see it, a draw is possible but not probable. Wigan are done unless Norwich and Newcastle go pointless the rest of the way, which luckily for them can and may happen.

Wigan are 5 points behind Villa with a game at hand, unfortunately (for Wigan) at the Emirates... but should they win that, and the last game of the season, they are safe.... I wouldn't bet any money on it but that's the scenario they are in.... for us YA supporters, a draw in that Arse-Wigan game would be the best for both worlds... it would assure Villa stay up, and would mean Spurs have their champions league fate in their own hands... wouldn't be a good result for Omanis abroad unfortunately though...
