Sorry if this was posted somewhere else. GNR is having their first US tour since 1993. They are hitting up most of the major cities in the US and Canada. I already bought tickets to see Axl and the new guys at the Fleetcenter in Boston.
Yeah Axl and whoever is coming to my neck of the woods. No clue who the other folks are. But to me GNR died a long time ago. No Slash. No Izzy. No Duff. This reminds me of has been acts hitting the crappy casino lounge circuit with vastly different lineups than the original incarnation.
i agree with FearM9 and I can't say that their performance at the MTV VMA's did anything to get me excited. Axl sounded horrible. Also, no Slash, no dice.
I saw them on the MTV VMA awards as well, and I'd go as far as saying Axl can go sh_t in his hat if he thinks G'n'R are anywhere near as good as they were. They suck ass now.
They did sound pretty bad on MTV, but if you listen to bootlegs from the Vegas shows they really weren't bad at all.
On the VMA performance, who was the guitarist that looked like a Nine Inch Nails reject? That has to be the worst haircut I've ever seen.
I wonder if they think they can still come on stage 90 minutes late with the current lineup? I saw them back in the early 90s and that was the most ridiculous thing ever, people were pissed about it then. There would be a riot if they tried that crap now.
Exactly. Or a cover band of sorts. It just isn't right. Dear Axl, Change the f'in band name, quit cruising along playing G'n'R classics in the form of medleys, stop being such a pansy & play some new stuff. Or is it just so bad that you're afraid of being alienated by all your fans? I always liked Slash better than you anyway. Godspeed.
i agree with everything that's been said ...... although part of me is torn about buying tickets. it's like the car crash. you know you shouldn't look but you want to anyway. I almost want to see for myself what kind of show they put on. Almost. It's a morbid curiousity.
Did anyone else notice that was fucking Buckethead playing guitar on the VMA's? The dude who's claim to fame was composing the 12 bar score to "Last Action Hero." Yeah right Axl. Nice try.
you do know that buckethead's been in the band for well over a year now (if not longer) ... right? But he should just go out on tour as Axl Rose. Leave the Guns n' roses name alone until you get the boys back together.
That's what I was going to say. Exhibit #1: Praxis, Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) Exhibit #2: Jonas Hellborg, Octave of the Holy Innocents Later, COZ
Saw them play at Leeds in August. All you have to do is get enough drink inside you and they are fantastic. They lost it a bit in the middle (ie the new stuff), but to hear Axl singing the classics made it all worthwhile. If you saw them in their prime I wouldn't recomend it, but if you didn't then you could do a lot worse.
Anyone actually seen them recently? I saw them at Leeds in August, and its easy to say 'It aint GNR, blah blah, no Slash, blah blah......' BUT! They were truly amazing. They did everything, and it all sounded spot-on. Granted, I saw them at a Festival, with a wickedly huge PA and full-on pyro excellence........but it was still the best thing Ive ever seen. Worth waiting 9 years for, and paying the £100 for. *wanley*
