Relevent Sports Group, which operates and promotes the International Champions Cup soccer, just announced a "huge soccer fanfest"July 19th and 20th in uptown Charlotte. Interesting timing, considering they have 9 days to market it. But sounds like a 5 year deal, making Charlotte a regular ICC stop for the foreseeable future. The park is just blocks from the stadium, so they should at least get everyone who was planning to go to the game to stop by. Koz chose not to come. Club isn’t saying much about it... Doesn’t sound positive any way you look at it. https://www.arsenal.com/news/club-statement-laurent-koscielny
Re: Fanfest in Charlotte... Just happens to coincide with the Charlotte Panthers' owner and his push for selection as an MLS expansion franchise. Surprise, surprise!
Anyone from Chicago area going to the Washington or Charlotte game? Getting back from being out of the country next Thursday. Trying to decide if 2 13 hour drives right after and a bunch of money are worth it.
I might ask the same question about NYC to DC vs Real Madrid? I have a small logistical conflict w/ that matchday, plus my enthusiasm for the tour overall is kinda low (hmm, wonder why), BUT if there was a carpool heading down from NYC and last-minute StubHub ticket to be had my arm might be twisted?
Arsenal NYC were planning to charter a bus for interested fans. You could probably contact them to find out if there is still room.
Amtrak Penn Station to Union Station, Red line metro to Metro Center station, Silver line to Morgan Blvd? Return trip is a problem...
Meh, you will be fine. Trains stop running around 11:30 and the match will probably end about 10. On top of that, it will be easier since its not rush hour on the way back. That walk to and from the stadium is a bear tho.
The walk from the grassy parks areas below to Dodger Stadium is maybe 0.5-1 miles far, but mother of christ the hill is straight up. Its hell and if you do it summer, you might as well bring 2 shirts.
I went to Dodger Stadium last Friday (yup, sat through the earthquake), and that walk is annoying. Driving to Dodger Stadium sucks too, which is also true for Fed Ex field. Like you said, Dodger Stadium is way steeper. Thankfully Morgan Blvd to Fed Ex isnt that bad.
Rapids match is Monday night. I can't see any TV channel airing, except something called Altitude Sports? But I also saw an English article that implied it's streamable on Arsenal.com. Anybody know if that's true and we'll be able to do that in USA?
Playing with dog outside both times, didn’t feel either quake at all! By play I mean, I chase him and then he chases me
These kinds of things are often streamed live on Arsenal Player, but last I checked this is audio-only. If not live games are usually available for replay later on there.
Yeah that's what I was wondering/worrying about. Audio only. [emoji20] Edit: Maybe livesoccertv.com will be necessary. Haven't had to use that in a while!
The original one has been gone for a while, and its replacement for a couple months, but it lives on elsewhere (including still on reddit in various guises and addresses that change often). If you just google reddit soccer streams when you want to watch something you’ll find an option.
I've found a stream on Reddit that seems to be poised to show the Rapids match in 5-10 mins. And it didn't trigger any antivirus pop-ups http://architana.xyz/ps1/
Two teams of reserves start the game, in front if a pretty paltry crowd*. And we're sporting bright yellow names and numbers on our backs... WTF? But I'd accept the Rapids' outfit as our away kit. More than the one we'll be seeing this year. [emoji20] *Edit: crowd built pretty nicely towards end of 1T.
3-0 to our youngsters. Saka stayed on for 90' and seems like he might be the real deal. Arsenal supporters had to wait until 78' to see any stars, when 4-5 first-teamers made their entrance. The range being due to whether or not one considers Mustafi one of those.
