Yeah that was a big stop by Memo. He was solid today in the 3-1 victory. Univision dudes said the Ajaccio owner turned away bids of 5-6m euro because he's seeking 10m. Not sure what their sources are...
you still have to have a gk there to stop it. shit pk or not Memo has a really good record when it comes to stopping PK's. iirc he was already catching up to Oswaldo in record PK stops before he left.
It was a horribly taken PK, it's true. Given the context of the game and Ajaccio's position on the table, Memo gets the credit.
Yeah, because one game is enough to make that determination. Not saying Ochoa is worse than Corona, but c'mon.
Ochoa is the best goalkeeper Mexico has right now, end of discussion. Corona is not a bad goalkeeper by no means, and is a competent back-up.
As much as I agree that Memo > Corona, this is not the place for that discussion. Memo at Ajaccio please. Thanks!
He reminds me of De Gea... Great shot stopper but he's shaky with long range shots.... at least in the past he had been hopefully he's sorted that out since I saw him last.
Hmm... I haven't seen many of his games but most of the highlights I've seen of Ochoa pre-Ajaccio were amazing acrobatic long shot saves. My perception was that he's good at stopping shots but weak on corners.
From 1:13 and up.... Don't pay attention to the stupidity of whoever created the video... he hates on Memo in that video.... But what I mean is that there is a pattern in those mistakes with long balls. Some of those are defensive errors that he can't be blamed for.
Everyone loves to bring up Guardado's 4 career goals against memo but can't seem to remember the first time they ever played against each other in 05. Guardado had like 2-3 long distance shots and memo saved each one spectacularly. I dunno where youre getting this "weak on long distance" shit from.
