When I see Guevara hit a free kick like he did many times last night and when I see him take off on a counter attack he maierisms and way of kicking the ball really remind me of Brazilian legend Zico. Im not saying Guevara is a Zico but in some instances he "looks" like Zico especially his follow up after striking a ball.

Nonetheless I find Guevara an EXCELLENT player and he will be KEY to the Metro's success. He is one of the few players on the team that seem to know what to do with the ball when he has it as his feet. He sems to have a plan and objective as where others just blindly run forward with it.

How old is he and whats his history?

I have to take issue with this statement and do a little constructive criticizim.
There were a few instances that Guevara was staling the game, spining around showing us his wonderful skill but in the end with very little outcome. He held the ball nicely, dribled thru a few players side to side, his teammates tying to open up and what did he do, made a back pass , his work for that one minute was worthless in the end, but entertaining.

He is a fine player no doubt, and we need him, but he could be even better if he used his skills more wisely and actualy dribble forward and get between the defenders or make a forward pass that could be a scoring opportunity. I like to see him take on defenders and go to goal.

    Soccerfan,

Guevara is a player that creates plays, he is more of an assist type of player. Every now and then you will see him go head to head with defenders and go for the goal, but don't expect him to do that too often. He likes to distribute the ball. I think that he needs some time to gel with the team and we will see more exciting plays from the dynamic duo of Clint Mathis and Amado Guevara.

    Take Care.

    Mapo, well done post.....

Soccerfan, I think this post is quite a bit off. While Gueverra and many other Latin players may have a tendency to hold posession to long and become frighteninlgy mezmorized with their own feet, Gueverra plays an important role in holding the ball and spreading the field of player. Much like very tactical German soccer, Metro on Saturday night was letting the ball do the work, looking for space, running into that space, and capitalizing down the wings and on the over-lap. At times, our flowing ball was beautiful, and close to world class. This also has a side advantage, for when another team decides to clamp down on Gueverra, our other players can join the attack, not depending on him being the only offense sieve.

To poise another criticism of your post, soccerfan, what is wrong with playing the ball north-south and holding onto posession. If they dont have the ball, the opposition cant score. All too often, we have the American mindset too go forward (basketball, hockey, football). Sometimes the most deadly ball is over the top and diagonal, holding possession and playing keep away is vital to any successful team.

    Which was more exciting:

    1. Guevara dribbling and holding the ball in traffic.

    2. Guevara unleashiing long diagonal passes on target.

    3. Geuvara's unbridled delight seeing Mathis and Zaide score.

    4. All of the above.

    Stay tuned for more....

    Why is that worthless?

I'll take a stab: You think Claudio Reyna's overrated.

    Sweeper,

i have high praise for Guevara, my criticizam was "consytoctive" and belive it could be an improvement. This i cannot expect of other players to do but him, as he has the skill to take players one on one. On Saturday he dribbled thru the midfield, thru more then one player, the only thing he needed was to beat maybe two more guys and he would have been on goal . Instead he made a back pass that resulted in loosing the ball a few seconds later. Yes he did held the ball, we had possesion but it stopped there. He done this at least 4 times.

as far as Claudio goes, I had a lot more expectations out of him, he hasn't achived as much as i would have hoped for.

He keep dribbling, becouse no body was in posisition tu recive de ball, remember is his second game and only 5 days training together with the team, give him and the rest two more games.

Looks like a combo of Ciefeugos and Tab Ramos when they were at their prime and not injured. The real deal.

I think that may be the loose rubber they mix in with the FieldTurf that you're smelling.

Let's hope Amado doesn't run off with a surfboard.
